Just leave the field blank, I guess. I'm not entire sure what the brand field is for.

You can report them to support if you think it's worth adding. I have found a couple Rix and WCF stations that aren't listed.

No argument from me!

There are some publicly available lists of petrol stations, though almost all of them are only for personal use (not commercial). Wikipedia says there were 8,787 petrol stations in 2010.

dmcconachie has done a fabulous job asking petrol companies for lists of their stations, and has passed them on to Waze. Once they've been imported, we should hit 60% easily.

Caveat: we'll probably have to wait for the next map update at least.

ASDA have 160 fuel stations, which they have plotted on a map: http://your.asda.com/fuel-prices

Sainsburys have 267 fuel stations, according to WhatGas.

The Garmin one is CSV. Emailed it to you.

I've created this page for tracking progress of Petrol Stations.

Potentially a good idea, but I doubt Waze will be interested in doing it.

A partnership with an existing service would be infinitely better, but that's not likely to happen either.

Today we've seen some imported stations appear for Total, Tesco, Murco and Jet.
3 defunct brands have been removed from the list: Safeway, Ultramar and Q8.

Unfortunately, their locations are often off by quite a bit. I think the coordinates for these brands were generated using postcode information, rather than the actual locations like wot BP did. These locations are probably close enough for most people, but there's a lot of work to be done to tidy things up...

I think Shell have been imported too, and their locations seem to spot on (merging with existing stations).

The tracking page has been updated: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Petr ... s_%28UK%29

With hindsight, we should have asked Waze not to overwrite any details when merging. Ho hum.

Update: Waze have now imported Morrisons and Texaco, bringing up our total to just under 7 thousand. There are still ASDA and Sainsburys missing, plus some minor brands such as Gulf and Pace.

I thought Q8 left the UK service station market years ago...? Maybe some are run as independents now.

If you can find a definitive and up to date list of their stations, we can add them manually.

In other news, all 7000+ known stations have been manually verified by our fabulous editors. :)

Once we have enough of them (70-80%), they will enable the gas price feature in the client.
For toll roads I can understand the desire to wait until a large number are mapped. It really doesn't make any sense for petrol stations. Not least because (AFAIK) there is no publicly available list of them to know how many there are, or a way to know how many have been added.

If the argument is that the feature won't work well until a good percentage are added, that's a spurious argument. I could add 100% of the petrol stations within a 100 mile radius, and the feature still wouldn't get enabled by the 70-80% requirement, even though it would work perfectly in my area.

Waze don't normally hold back enabling features before they are 100% implemented

Can we just get it enabled now.
