Level 3 or not level 3?

Post by z00mb1e
I just tried to add road closures (confirmed by local authorities). I'm level 3, but I cannot add closure because "I need to be level 3 editor / Waze partner to add/edit closure". Can someone explain?

Your image did not post correctly. Is the segment within your EA (Editable Area) and not locked above L3?

I looked at the image once again and puff - the message shows L4? I'm sorry for confusion. When I tried to do it, I couldn't edit as the left-hand side was showing requirements for level 3, probably after refreshing the page, it changed to correct one. I must wait another few years, before I get level 4 lol

z00mb1e wrote:I will have to continue this post, as I just tried to add some planed road closures and for some strange reason it shows that I have to be Level 3 Editor to do it, when I click on my profile, it says that I'm already Level 3. The segment itself is locked to Level 4, but I thought that editing is different to posting temporary road closures.
Happy New Year!
You can only add closures to segments locked at your editing rank or lower. In order to add them to higher locked segments they need to be unlocked first, or you need to request RTC area from your local leadership.

Happy New Year!

There are different permissions for RTC.
  1. Any level editor (even L1) can be granted permissions to add RTC in a defined area. With that comes the ability to add closures to segments locked at any level, so an L1 editor could place a closure on a L6 locked segment.
  2. When no RTC permission area was granted, or that you are editing outside of area(s) that you were granted. The normal RTC permissions apply: Meaning you can only add RTC's on segment which you can also edit.
This explains why in some cases you can place an RTC on any segment, even if locked, but that if you move elsewhere in WME you won't have the same ability and will need to ask for an unlock, or someone else to do it for you if the segment is outside of your editing area (or AM zone).

Note: Some countries allow L3 editors to add RTC's, others have reserved that to L4, so it also can depend on which country you'd be editing in, crossing the border can make you lose the normal RTC permission while you edit there, and going back into a more permissive country will allow you to add RTC's there again based on your level and editing area.
z00mb1e wrote:Request to unlock is sent. Wouldn't be it simpler if the map editor automatically updated the closure level required accordingly?
Not sure I understand exactly what you mean.

Where do you edit? You have to reach out to your local community to apply for RTC area permissions

He didn't mean ask here. He meant ask in the UK forum. But while this possibility exists, I do not know if they grant such permissions, to whom and at what conditions. Every country decides differently, but asking non-UK editors outside of the UK forum is not the right process.

You need to message Timbones (UK CA), he will be able to tell you the UK policy on adding closures and provide assistance.

That said, the best option for this is post in England community forum to answer your doubts or questions about this.

In this forum, we don't know which permissions have your community to add RTC.
