Electric Vehicle type now available in the app

Post by woodvale
Waze enabled a new vehicle type in the production app today to support zero emission vehicles. This coincides with the introduction of restrictions by the City of London on the underground B100 - Beech St from tomorrow, 18th March, which imposes a ban on non-zero emission vehicles using it as a through route. The ban is in place all day every day.

Non-zero emission vehicles are permitted to use Beech St to reach either the Barbican Centre Car Park or the residential or Trade Centre car parks, and also to leave via Beech St, but the time of arrival and departure will be recorded and, if too close together, result in a £150 fine being levied. The map has been updated to support this and Waze will only provide through routing along the road for vehicles which have the Electric vehicle type setting, or for any vehicle to the car parks.

There is also a zero-emission zone in Shoreditch on the Hackney/Islington border which is operational during peak hours Monday-Friday and which also supports routing only for the electric vehicle type.

Hi,

I searched in my app for this vehicle type and it is not available. Can you tell me if this is specific to the UK?

Thanks

Thanks iainhouse!

Let's wait for more countries with the feature. This is a huge step in to the future of the app.

If you have the permits for these schemes, you can add Permits to the app in the Toll passes & exemption section of the settings screen.  Select "London C Charge Exempt" and "Dart Charge Account", you will probably also need "London ULEZ Compliant" too.

Note, to cross the Dartford Crossing, you will need to switch Avoid Toll Roads off in Navigation settings.

Note that this vehicle type only affects routing and not the fuel options or charging points, and the UK only has two* zones where this will make a difference. (*This should also mean that electric vehicles should be able to pass through London's ULEZ without a pass, but I need to double-check that).

We are keeping an eye on other zero-emission schemes being introduced in other cities, and will map them accordingly.
