I'm part of a team putting together an Android Automotive based head unit.

I suspect as Android Automotive is basically using the same UI as Android Auto, it may be technically as simple as installing the APK file and making sure all the necessary vehicle services are there like GPS and whatnot.

What would be involved in getting the right permissions to do this? If the released APK doesn't support this, is there a development version we could get access to?
