On another note we resumed the automatic tile build for IL, we’ll keep monitoring it and make sure it runs smoothly.
If everything goes as planned we’ll proceed with NA and ROW after that.

Hi Ruben

Can we have an update on the progress with the ROW tiles. I noticed the dates for the next manual build are still not fixed and seem to go back each day.

Also, how did the automatic build for IL go? The build status on the status page https://status.waze.com/ has not been updated since 14 Dec so it seems there is no ongoing automatic build.

Thanks for all the work you and the team are putting into resolving this.

I noticed that livemap tiles for ROW are updated now, but new roads are not used for route calculation. Also snapshot mode in editor shows new roads too. So something's happening.

I agree, something has happened as the map in LIvemap has had an update, with changes from last week showing in the map, but the routing still does not seem to have changed since 21 Dec. I think we are stuck somewhere between tile updates. This is why I asked for an "official" update on the situation.

Thanks Ruben for the updates. This sucks for everyone collectively. I hope that as a community we can use this opportunity to identify things can be done better on several fronts.

Just an FYI...If you read the OP
We would like to let you know that there is a planned delay to the Tile Build process - our sincere apologies for the late notice. We have decided to take advantage of the “quiet time” in December to make some necessary upgrades and overhaul many of the processes that make up the map's infrastructure.

We had hoped downtime would be limited, however we are now anticipating a period of around 1 month without map updates. This means changes requiring tile updates applied in WME will not be reflected in the LiveMap or in the Waze app in all countries until mid-January at the earliest. Any changes made during this period will be saved and implemented as soon as the Tile Build process is back online.
It sounds like the planned delay was only supposed to be for a few days or so.  As the second paragraph eludes to, the month long part of the delay was not anticipated.

It still would have been nice to have been advised about the short planned delay in advance, then it may not have hurt so bad when it turned into a month long delay.

They have done better

Which is why I also said that advance notice would still have been nice to have.  My only point is that the month long delay does not sound planned.  The planned part probably should have been told to us.

Even one day delay should have been announced upfront

Shmupi

Only if the one day delay is planned.  Most of the time the one day delays are not planned and it would not be reasonable to expect notification when the delay in not planned.

Waze leadership is very aware of the entire situation.
