I.e when Waze updates to a new configuration, we can send it to Google Maps to be updated vice waiting for someone to come and reject it....er mean review it?

Also would be nice if they gave credit to us in GM so that they realize we are knowledgeable contributors for improving their maps too.
I agree if google is using the information and the edits that we performed in WME we should get credit for that, as that's basically editing Google maps too at the same time.

It is fantastic to see this come to fruition after a very exciting and hush hush GC call with staff many months ago! Congratulations on the work you've done so far. I can't wait to see it in beta for testing. But more importantly, what it will be able to unlock for our editors into the future. We know there's so much potential in this new feature and that you'll be working carefully to ensure it is done right and sustainable for future growth. :D

This idea seems great.  I think that using not only google maps, but other sources as a reference is a must have feature. My suggestion would be to allow us to be able to sort the list based on the rank required to approve the suggestion, so we do not see things that we cannot approve.

Another suggestion of mine would be to somehow get a source from Google.  Essentially, make the map suggestions have a little link, which opens a new tab to
A (preferred) - wherever Google maps got the road information from
B - Just the Google maps.

This will overall help us solve these issues quickly, and also make sure to verify the information.

However, suggestion would require the help and participation of Google.

Currently, a lot of people think that Google may not be the most accurate.  By having Google give us the source, we would be able to see that they are a reliable source to use!

I believe that the source data is basically from Google Maps.  This feature will put a layer on the map where the road is thought to be in Google.   You can use the Google link in WME to open up Google Maps to the same location if you want to.  Plus there is Sat View.

They have to get the street names from somewhere...

Plus, sometimes they also have roads in areas that have very outdated satellites which don't have that road.

If editor doesn't want improve Google Map, He should decline all suggestions?
Correct?

In my country Waze have only two advantages - accuracy and speed of map updates, speed cameras. If all these changes will move to the GM, any normal users will use Waze.

Thanks, Ruben, for the detailed reply.

One thing I would like to add my own voice to:
We are working in collaboration with Google to update satellite and aerial imagery on demand and much quicker for Waze, based on the editors’ request.
THIS.  There is some ridiculously old imagery -- years out of date -- that we have to deal with.  Even in outer rural areas, things change after a while, and it really makes it hard for us to add or change map roads when we don't have current visual information.  Even with this new suggestions feature (which I welcome, BTW), I'm going to be concerned with accepting a suggestion onto our map when I don't have some other visual confirmation.  Face it, there have been times where Google Maps (and even our basemap import) mapped fence and telephone pole lines as streets.  Having current visuals on an area can go a LONG way to help us confirm an incoming suggestion.

So yes, please really push to make that happen.  Thanks!

They are actually going to acknowledge and converse with us? I hope this works as well as everyone hopes.

Maybe this is too much work on the back end?  It seems like this is similar to the scans done for Falcon raids.
