In our country we prefer to add closures for races, leaving extra time at the beginning and end, since Waze takes charge of showing them open if there is traffic.
We prefer that there be one (or several) too many closures and Waze reports the worst ETA and that the driver "saves extra time" if he finds the road open.
Some of the segment that usually have closures are:
Rambla Trouville
Estadio Centenario

- Gran Parque Central

- Circuito Prado

Hello! Here's a PL to the area affected (from the MH in the NW part to the Freeway in the NE part), Bandera Rd to I-35: https://waze.com/en-US/editor?env=usa&l ... omLevel=12

Here's a link to our local department of transportation's blog with the "planned" closures for the week: https://txdotsanantonio.blogspot.com/20 ... res_8.html

Why am I posting this here? You'll notice I put "planned" in quotes above. Several editors (me included) used to go through this blog every week spending hours trying to figure out what the blog writers meant and meticulously placing in every closure. The rewards for our efforts were the exact same number of URs complaining the roads weren't closed. Living in the city, I also experienced Waze routing me off the highway just so I could see the highway was still open more times than it routed me off because it was closed.

We all started with good intentions, but then our motivation was sapped by spending hours trying to be helpful only to have a similar number of complaints afterwards to deal with. The general feeling was that if we're still going to have a bad routing experience and the same number of URs, might as well save hours every week not putting in closures. Editors in other Texas cities have had similar experiences (looking at you, Houston) and usually rely on BOTG or URs to place closures instead of trusting the blogs that are supposed to be accurate.

Two events that come to mind are SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, which just ended https://www.sxsw.com/ and the Houston Stockshow and Rodeo in Houston https://www.rodeohouston.com/

Every year I see plenty of URs for these events. SXSW closes certain ramps to/from I-35 intermittently and it feels like we're just chasing fires trying to keep up with those. https://maps.app.goo.gl/M8DX82KHcR5amCow5

Houston Rodeo: someone in SCR closes streets based on the published closures from the coordinators, but other side streets close and we see a jump in reports for closures.

Here's one of the typical URs where we see intermittent closures.

IMHO closures are the number one area for improvement in Waze, as routing around them is most important to getting Wazers to their destinations safely/quickly. I know it's an area y'all are working to improve and I look forward to seeing what's ahead!

is this the type of thing you're looking for?
CORRECTION: Road closure planned for State Road 159 in Sullivan CountyUPDATE: Corrected to Sullivan CountySULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure for State Road 159 in Sullivan County.Beginning on or around Monday, October 16, crews will begin intermittent road closures on State Road 159 near Dugger. These closures will occur in two different locations to replace two different pipes under the roadway. Work is expected to take a week to complete, depending on the weather. No official detour is in place due to State Road 159 ending near the closure. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.
i didn't add the closure because it's way too vague as to the time and location of 2 hard closures over 7 miles of roadway. Indiana Department of Transportation is notorious for this sort of announcement.

this one i have a link for:
https://content.govdelivery.com/account ... ns/3745603
9 miles of state highway over a week. hard closure location(s) and times are not specified but are expected to change daily.

here's another example.
https://content.govdelivery.com/account ... ns/374849d
i gave up on this one after reading it through 3 times. i'm pretty sure i started to smell burnt toast.

Another thing INDOT likes to do is say "On or after x date, the road will close for up to y days. weather permitting," but what really happens is nobody really knows for sure when the contractor is actually going to close the road or for how long. it might just be for a couple days in the middle of that window. URs pop up that it's open, so you take the closure off, and then a week later it closes and you get a bunch of URs about it bad routes or turn not allowed. it's almost not worth the headache.

Hi!

You expect from us to send permalinks of segments we found closed i.e. because of events, but not being showed in the app? During soccer matches, some streets near stadiums get closed by the authorities. Should this be one example you are expecting us to share? Do you need permalinks of all segments involved in the closure in such case or some of them?

Thx

Do you need future "possible" events? Or passed events? Or both?

Hi!:

Once yearly, departing from this area, there is a religious event called "Peregrination to Luján". Lot of young people march along about 60 km (12 hrs walk time) to Luján city, to the west. It's very difficult to track it and keep closures syncronised.
May be this case helps you to analyse irregular event closures.
This year, this event took place on September 30th in Av. Rivadavia and finished at "Basilica of Luján" on October 1st in the morning.

Note: Some segments have closures been applied by a community editor, estimating the time.

Best regards
