***IMPORTANT*** This isn't a lock request issue, but today I found 2 areas where segments seemed to have been deleted with small little segments left behind. I fixed the first one and started fixing the second area (https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=6&lat ... s=62625881), but decided that I should wait and try to escalate this. Whether this is a serious bug or a malicious user, we should find out. Is there anybody who can help us with this? I asked orbitc, and he had no clue either.

Thanks! :)
Ditto...
I already discuss this with Wajo357... Some of the segments are still there that I created or updated awhile back. Have you seen this happening before?

Is this a general trend now - to name both directions just I-nnn (while ramp names can include directional suffixes)?

WeeeZer14 wrote:The issue with Canal is (it seems) that you simply cannot make the right and then the left. Either flat out not legal or it is just imposible to cross multiple lanes of traffic into a lane that is probably backed up past where you are coming in. Since we can't tell Waze to disallow a series of turns, a hack like this is the only way.
Got it. The first time I looked, Canal was two way on the main segment, so I didn't see how the change would affect routing or verbal directions. Now the one-ways have been fixed ... but it looks like there is no way for traffic coming from the west on Canal to continue on Canal. I think I'll wait a day and look again when you have it done. (Also the highlight extension is telling me there are a lot of reverse connections around there.) Thanks for the confirmation on Interstate naming, i.e. no change to the current situation.

Wajo357 wrote:I'm a little torn with the railroad issue. Because most intersections between roads and railroads have those railroad lights. If we don't have a node split at that intersection, Waze won't get the correct metadata for that intersection.
First, you don't want a real junction because Waze might someday try to route a car onto the tracks. Second, if you have a junction in the road with no other roads (or tracks) intersecting it, my feeling about putting in fake junctions to show details of congestion is that they serve no purpose. If you can't get off the road, if Waze can't try to find you an alternate route, then what you want is the congestion for the whole real segment.

What is the alleged policy on that in NJ? I see a mix of State Rte and SR whenever I drive through (and I will again on Saturday).

SR is only used on ramps to save space. Speech knows this rule for only ramps and will speak it out correctly. Again... Only ramps.
OK. In New York we're sort of converged on SR- everywhere.

Let's wait until tomorrow for this. I'm sure others will look at it and chime in if they appose us doing a split and raised (bridge like middle) road for the middle.
As far as I know that's not a road at all, it's a roof over the trains... but I've never tried to go up there.

Is it just a matter of saving space? Because I think most drivers would be a little confused over what SR is and maybe try to edit it to NY or something else.
You think so? 'round here if I heard "State Highway 34" I would say, "Huh?". We just say "34" or "route 34" for everything, state or national or interstate. "State route" seems like a pretty good compromise. But I'm strongly in favor of consistency, so I would appreciate a national plan with explicitly listed exceptions.

Sorry for the hijacking, this should probably go to a different thread.
