If you're familiar with the console in the browser, it's pretty easy to find.

For a segment, get its ID and use wazeModel.streets.objects[wazeModel.segments.objects[<segmentid>].attributes.streetIDs[0]]. The properties are signText and signType.
Specifically that's for the first alternate street. For the streetname that shows on the map and that is used for shield display by the client, it's .attributes.primaryStreetID. The segment's .attributes.streetIDs is an ordinal array for the alternate streets for that segment and can be empty.

Is the source for this portion of the code available? I'd like to learn more about what property on a segment generates the shield.

Path 0.0.41 is available with a new feature: segment details now display shield information if available. This may help in debugging incorrect or missing shield information that could cause issues incorrect display in the client. Unfortunately there is not yet a method to make changes to this, but we are investigating the possibilities.

Hey, could you verify or confirm that Ctrl+s does not work for Save in Safari on Mac? I'm having problems with it on Windows.

Patch 0.0.40 is available. It includes the GeoWipe script to straighten out selected segments, as well as an update for URO 1.8.

Version 0.0.5 is now a reality:

  • Ability to enable or disable WME Color Highlights plug-in.
  • Ability to use original WME Color Highlights interface, instead of integrating into WazeBar.

To make these changes, go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions > WazeBar. Note that making changes will refresh the page, so you might loose any unsaved edits.
