Hi Ori,

I'm surprised at such a threat emanating in public from Waze HQ, based on what?

Grateful if you would elaborate further on your comment...
I was contacted by one of the Wazers who was wrongfully accused to be a cheater.
I have genuine suspicions as to what this might be about. It is obvious something is amiss here!

I wish to see a full transcript by PM of the complaint that was made to you, please.

I look forward to hearing from you without undue delay.

Regards,
arthurohara

Hi Ori,

Noted.

In the first instance I did not post anything about this matter on this particular forum or any other one. You can see who initiated it and furthermore quoted my username. Ask yourself why that was done? Why did you not take umbrage with that viz-a-vie your statement concerning posts?
I was contacted by one of the Wazers who was wrongfully accused to be a cheater
It is only fair that I should know the content of the accusation because it quite obviously refers to me and is totally untrue. This can be done by PM. The inference now is that I have wrongly accused another Wazer
to be a cheater
As Country Manager for Ireland I wish to have this inference corrected immediately on this forum.

Secondly I did not accuse anyone of cheating in a PM or in a post on this forum.

Please show me on the Waze wiki or on any Waze noticeboard the instructions guidelines you have quoted referring to matters of this nature.

Regards.

Hi Ori,

Thank you.

I am offended and still feel unfairly treated that my username was wrongfully added to this thread on Fri May 16, 2014 6:21 pm. What is inferred there concerning me is untruthful. The timeline is also incorrect. I would like to have my username removed from this post because it still infers inappropriateness and that’s not me!

This is further compounded in your post Sun May 18, 2014 12:52 pm by the words
who was wrongfully accused to be a cheater
Those words need to go too in fairness. Maybe the initial post of Fri May 16, 2014 6:21 pm to date needs to go!

I’m well into my third year with Waze leading and showing good example from the front. My record, example, extensive work and ethics shows that I’m a true conscientious believer, Waze protagonist and promoter for the common good out there on the road.

Naturally this is not the place for matters so delicate. I will correspond on the issue further in the way in which you suggest.

Regards,

Arthur.

Admittedly I have no idea how Waze points can be cheated but I assume there would have to be map changes of some sort to generate the points, so wouldn't you see those changes on the map in Ireland?
Could it be that there is just a lot of work to be done in Ireland, so there are a lot of things that need fixing, and they go unnoticed on such an undeveloped map?

I'm assuming it is undeveloped by what the OP wrote.

It's not just limited to Ireland unfortunately we have it here too. You definitely did the right thing by contacting Waze. See what their reply is and if necessary press them on it.

From what I gather, it's when <redacted>. Depending how far you zoom out this can get quite a lot of points, but does nothing of any benefit to the map. It's a shame really.

I can guess where those fingers are pointing and I would also have to agree. It has been going on farrrrr too long without providing any real input to the map data other than forcing tile changes which aren't needed, which in turn cause higher server load, longer tile processing times, and generally spoil for everyone across the board.

Making the tiniest of changes possible basically without actually *doing* anything, if that makes sense?

Exactly. This benefits no one and actually makes a worse product. As I say, those tiles that aren't changed probably aren't reprocessed until they're updated on WME. So to update them for no reason it causes a rebuild and higher server load, making it crap for everyone else.
These people need suspended or removed and banned for good.
Hard to imagine how some people have so little to do with their sad lives that points on a SatNav mean more than getting a job!

hi there
i am writing this message after receiving a pm from one of the community members recently and i came across this forum post. although there was no detail about the intention of the sender in the message, i think it was about this topic.
i dont really care about points to be honest, because maps are my passion and daily job as well. i live in ireland, edit ireland maps and also editing in another country. since the irish map is quite good compared to the others, i spend more time on the other country than ireland (maybe around 30% to 70%). Most of the time i am checking if there are URs and trying to fix them if i am familiar with the location on irish maps, or add/edit if i find a problem/ missing road etc when i am driving. i am area manager of three regions. however if i cant see much edits in my management area, i spend my time in the other country which i am very very familiar.
because of that my points are going up! (but no one is paying me for those points :) ) but as said i dont care about the points, what i want is reliable navigation and maps where i live and visit.
i searched forums and i couldnt find any rule for this situation. it seems that you can edit as long as you are editing properly and correctly, in your management area and around drives.
and for the cheating, personally i dont think that would be technically "possible (very easy)" (with a bulk loading etc) or easy to cheat the system unless if you are really passioned or geek :) i would personaly congratulate that person! i am also very familiar with the web and map services used in waze editor, i am using those technologies everyday.
so thats my story; please let me know if there is an issue with my situation. to be honest i wouldnt mind changing the country if earning points bothers people that much, but i live in Ireland, editing in Ireland, why should i change!
all the best
