Lvl 6 Unlock Request: Gadsden, AL

The south-bound lanes have been closed since January 2012, and were closed as of last Wednesday. Traffic was diverted onto the north-bound lanes. Both sides of the interstate were back open when I drove through yesterday (Monday), although construction was still going on and some individual lanes were still blocked.

I started undoing the map changes I had made during the construction phase, but hit a snag because a couple of higher-level editors had locked a few of the segments. Unfortunately, one of the editors was a level 6. I submitted the unlock request using the web form, but thought I'd also post it here just in case.

I've already cleared out 3-4 UR's on the re-opened road, and one more appeared overnight.

I unlocked the ones I could.

One is locked by (staff), so you will need to go to https://www.waze.com/support/ and send an e-mail with
unlock and the permalink in the subject and body of the e-mail.

I unlocked the segment selected, and everything nearby that was locked. I didn't see anything locked at level 6, so they must have got it.

Be sure and lock what is appropriate when you get done.

Support unlocked the segment and I connected across the gap.

From the GPS tracks it looks like the highway construction 'unsplits' the road to the southwest for a while.
Please check and make sure the roads correspond to the current traffic flow rather than the aerial photos.

Lock what is appropriate when you finish.

Thanks for the assistance. I already sent a request to support, maybe they'll get to it before the next map update.

Since you're a level 5, could you also unlock these segments:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=4&lat ... 40,1298322

There's one more section of interstate that needs re-naming, the ramp from the crossing road to I-59 S has a turn restriction off, and all ramps allow cross-over routing.

Then all that'll be left is connecting the segment of I-59 S that's locked by the level 6. I can't even connect the pieces by moving the non-locked segment.

Thanks for the help.

This segment is locked and still needs to be renamed:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=4&lat ... s=64533640

"Through routing" is still possible on the ramps, and I can't turn it off because the side streets are still locked, but I don't consider that a critical issue.

And still no word on the level 6 unlock. I'll probably send another web request today. If the map gets updated with a break in a heavily traveled interstate (causing routing onto surface streets) the UR's will propagate like bunnies.

Thanks to all. The edits are finished and everything is relocked except for the level 6 segment.

Here is a link to that segment in case anyone knows a level 6 that can either unlock it or else fill the hole in the interstate:

For the last 2 years the road HAS been "unsplit". First, for all of 2011, the north-bound lanes were closed while they completely tore up the concrete and repaved it. Traffic was diverted to 2-way driving on the south-bound lanes. Then in January 2012 the south-bound lanes were closed for the same reason and traffic was diverted to 2-way driving on the new north-bound lanes. Sometime between 11:00am the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (when I drove through to visit family) and about 1:00pm the Monday after Thanksgiving (when I was driving back home) they reopened both roadways and the traffic was divided again.

Normally editors aren't supposed to change the map for temporary construction closures, but this specific location was discussed in the forums last year. The consensus was that because the lanes would be closed for about a year the map needed to be changed.

Because of the closures and the horrible GPS reception down in those deep valleys, the GPS tracks will be off for quite a while.

Interestingly, I got emails responding to my two unlock requests this morning. Both said they couldn't find any level 6 locks, and they don't bother with level 3-5 locks. Basically, I read, "Go away and leave us alone". What that tells me is that they look at requests from high-ranked editors first. Someone saw bz2012's request and unlocked the segment before someone saw my request that had been made several days earlier. So for a lowly lvl 3 like myself, I would get the problem solved faster by posting here and asking a kindly lvl 5 to make a web request.

Anyway, all the issues appear to be resolved and traffic should be routed correctly. Thanks to everyone for helping out!

I unlocked that segment for you and fixed the turn restriction as well.
Thanks for fixing I-59. I noticed all the URs over there but I didn't know what was going on so I decided to stay clear.
