You're probably aware, but OpenData isn't working too well since the WME update.

I'm finding that most of the time I cannot select a name in the OpenData Window. Occasionally the name will select for a moment but then deselect again. Very occasionally, I can actually select the name and apply it to a segment.

I'm seeing several errors in the console like "WMEOpenData: Current name was set 140m away from segment location". I've tried experimenting with relative positioning of the OpenData window and the segment and the segment within the WME window, without coming to any conclusions.

I also hate to resurrect an old problem, but I'm still experiencing considerable performance issues with OpenData when editing in dense urban areas - to the extent that I find I'm regularly having to disable/enable it from the Extensions tab. Might it be possible to add an on/off switch so I can turn it off without checking extensions & then permalinking/refreshing?

I'm really sorry, but I have to be the bearer of more bad tidings.

It looks like Ordnance Survey have changed their OpenData Viewer page. The full-height hack no longer works and the link no longer takes you to the right part of the map. It's a long time since I've seen the page in it's "native" form, but it looks quite different from what I remember.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings - it looks like OS have changed the OpenData Viewer again. Opening it just produces a blank map in a non-maximised panel. Double-checking IE confirms the viewer works without the influence of scripts.

Sorry for the delay replying, Chris. It was when you asked that question, but has since started working again.

The part of the script that opens OS OpenData full screen and at the right place seems to have stopped working for me. And yes, after last time, I've given it a week or so and given the page plenty of time to change! ;)

I have a request for the script, based on the way I use it and other scripts.

I normally have the floating box minimised and near the top RH corner of the screen. That way it's on the right when I open it and stays there when I minimise it again. However, it causes problems with the WME Insert Segment, Insert Place and Toolbox menus: when the menus pop open, the OpenData box is "above" them. If my cursor crosses the OpenData box the menu disappears; or I have to manoeuvre around it whilst staying over the menu; or I have to move the OpenData box out of the way, then back again afterwards.

So, is it possible to change the z-level of the OpenData box to put it behind the menus, or is it possible for it to "jump" sideways to avoid an expanding menu?

I understand that this is a relatively minor issue - it only affects UK editors and then only those who like to put the box near the menus. So I'm not asking you to make a great effort - I'm just wondering if it can be relatively easily done. :)

2.19 is doing exactly what I wanted as regards the native dropdown menus - than you very much! I would still like it to do the same for the WME Toolbox dropdown - I've tried to hack it myself, but had no luck so far.

Anyway, the main point of this post isn't to do with that. Today I have no road names being loaded by the script. The console is full of authorisation errors and it looks like there might be a certificate problem. :(

My luck has improved - or maybe not trying it at 3 in the morning helps!

The following condition can be used to test whether the Toolbox menu is open and trigger hiding of the OpenData UI:

Code: Select all

window.getComputedStyle(getElementsByClassName('WazeControlLayerSwitcher WazeControlLayerSwitcherToolbox')[0]).getPropertyValue('visibility') == "visible"

I am too. But you'll find that once the kids are old enough to get up & turn on the TV or Xbox, lie-ins become a thing of the past - at least until they're old/motivated enough to make their own breakfast.

Anyway, I have a far more important reason for posting - the data server is up again and names are coming through.

Your hosting provider may have crapped out again, or there's a certificate problem.
