I received at least 8 PMs over the weekend and never received a Push notification to my iPhone. I received the emails, but that doesn't count, IMO, as it's always done that.

No push notifications on iOS Tapatalk either. I have my iPhone email set up as Imap, so when I get an e-mail, it gets pushed to the iPhone immediately. I set the notification address for PMs as a VIP, and I get a loud tone to indicate that I have received a PM. Works pretty well, but it took some effort to set up.

If you subscribe to a topic or forum, Tapatalk should notify you if there are new posts.
The context menu has the subscribe option, or you can even use the famous touch & hold feature and subscribe from there.

When logged out of all forums and on the main screen, there are additional notification settings.

To be honest, I do get alternate notifications sometimes. Some from email only and some from Tapatalk only.
In general I mostly get the Tapatalk notifications, as I often check unread messages via Tapatalk, so I would assume it stays in the background.

If I have not been on Tapatalk for a while, I would get an email notification before any Tapatalk notification.

Looking at Apps in my Android settings, I do not see any running service for Tapatalk itself. Neither is there an active or cached one one listed in Task Manager, so I'm not sure how exactly they handle the notifications part.

I subscribed to this topic, and this notification I got via email. The previous one I got via Tapatalk.

As I said, they seem to be alternating, and I have no idea how the Tapatalk push works. While typing this up using the notebook, Tapatalk notfied me of new content for another subscribed topic
