OK, I spoke too soon, sometimes the address field doesn't populate AT ALL (Country & State blank with no options in the dropdowns). A refresh is required.
Isn't it great that having the Landmark layer enabled futzes with the ability to properly save attributes of Landmarks? For everything else, we just say "turn off the landmarks layer" but that doesn't help here. :)

Make sure that the country is filled in as well. This will cause it to not save. If the country is empty, that is because of the long-standing bug with the landmarks layer being enabled and causing problems like no country in landmark and segments as well as the unable to select segments problem.

That was the case with the old infrastructure, but should not be the case now. It seems they're overloading the servers...

And they are starting to put the wrong date in again. Maps are updated up to 12/31 (through 12/30) but not including edits on 12/31.

Waze Automatic: We suspect that this segment is associated with a different city than the one it is currently in
Flagged a Portola Valley segment. This is going to be hell if every Portola Valley segment gets his with this. And the odd thing is, they're showing up with the icon for a UR, not a system generated problem.
Well, now that's interesting. There was no announcement, but it seems reasonable.

Wait a minute: those are Update Requests? That's not an "automated map problem" then. But, by the nature of the report, it looks like an official Waze crawler/bot which is going through the segment data and posting a UR when it finds some anomaly. Very interesting.

Waze is working on back-end fixing Portola Valley. No ETA.

It's on the list.

It sounds like the operation is mostly working as designed:

1. Segments incorrectly labeled with "Portolla Valley" were to be automatically updated to the correct city they are in, if that city could be identified
2. Segments were set to "no city" if the city could not be positively identified and a UR posted.

Only #2 was supposed to generate a UR, but perhaps, ALL of them generated a UR? That let's us verify them at least, to make sure the update process got it correct.

Only after added a primary Street is applied. It's a WME UI prohibition.

In addition alternates don't show state or country information even tho that is part of the City (object) the Street (object) references. So smudges across states and/or countries can exist in the alternates and it's not directly visible as such in WME.

Updating WMECH include that info for the alternate list should be straight forward and I'll be doing so to my own fork this weekend.
It appears that WME will pull the correct CItyID from the primary segment even if other same-name-incorrect-cityid exists in the current location.

Except when it isn't.

The alternate Street is "Main St" in "Westlake, Other, United States". The primaryStreetID is "Main St" in "Westlake, Ohio, United States". A bunch of this stuff is likely leftover damage from Cartouche, but the problem is, is if there was *no* primaryStreetID, the alternates are uneditable in WME until one is added. Fortunately that can all be done without intermediate saves.
What I'm saying is that when the primary street exists and you add an alternate, WME appears to pick the same CityID as the primary. If the PrimaryID doesn't exist, of course WME can't pick it as the primary.

The "can't update alternate streets when primary ID not set" is on the list.

Which is how it works now. Does nothing for fixing the damage done by Cartouche in the past, and being unable to see what state+country the alternates belong to is a bit of an annoyance.
Agreed. At least with WMECH, we have some ability to find it. Deleting all alt streets and adding in valid ones is the only way to do it for now.
