Incorporating tweets onto waze

Post by
In the upcoming version, waze will take Twitter integration a step further, as this version will feature geo-tagged tweets right on the waze map. This means that if someone tweets that they’re stuck in traffic, it will appear almost immediately on the waze map with a road report pin along with a little ‘t’ icon to indicate that the report came from Twitter. Incorporating tweets onto the waze is going to expand our coverage of real-time road events significantly, plus, the coolest part is that the Twitter integration functions two ways – once you input your Twitter details under ‘Settings’, you’ll be able to respond directly to tweets (on waze and Twitter, simultaneously) by commenting on the road report, turning waze, essentially, into an on-the-go Twitter client.

So what we need is traffic related tweeting services in the various states and/or countries that we can tap into them and add their relevant information. If you are aware of such services, please list them here in this thread and we'll check to see how to add them.

This page returns an XML geo-tagged file of the traffic on Mexico City, is provided by trafico889, the same as http://twitter.com/trafico889 but geo-tagged:

http://api.cctraffic.net/feeds/map/Traf ... rity%20asc

The "type" parameter can be any or all four types, the bLat and bLng parameters seems to be the area containing the events, the ones I provide cover the complete "Mexico City".

I got the address from this page:
http://api.cctraffic.net/feeds/map.aspx?key=mex

Hope it helps

A quick search for The Netherlands gave me:

http://twitter.com/anwbverkeer
http://twitter.com/verkeersdienst

Tweets about traffic on specific freeways:

http://twitter.com/filea#

Were # is the freeway number.

List of Dutch freeways:

It would have been great if there are GPS-tagged tweets, but unfortunately none of the link provide those.

Albuquerque PD tweet traffic, although not geotagged.

What software could I recommend they use to geotag their incidents?

Hello everyone, I'm a recent Waze member. I luv Waze, it's wonderful. My windows mobile is the Samsung Omnia, i910. When I report, I do not see the T for notification to my Twitter account, although I am logged in. What do I need to do to make sure my reports are going to Twitter? Thanks. Mscat :D
