How can you become a Waze translator?

Long gone are the days of Excel spreadsheets and purely manual workflow!

To accommodate Waze's growth and its rise in international users, we've switched over to tool called "Transifex," which offers way better user-friendly features for translators.

To join our translation teams, and translate Waze in your native language, please do the following:

1. Open the Tansifex link https://www.transifex.com/tour/formanager/ and sign in free as a translator. We recommend using your "Waze" credentials as your "Transifex" user name.

2. Send a "Join Team" request to Waze Active Project using the following links:

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/wa ... -projects/
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/waze-w_p/

3. After it will be approved you can start and help us translate Waze in your native language!

Hope to see soon on the Waze Translaton Team!

Thank's
Orit

One of the links points to the Thai language. I guess it would be better if it points to the index page.

Is it possible to indicate how many man hours it would take to translate to a new language. Assuming the translator is fluent in both languages.

I'd personally say most probably a whole full time week, as one should ideally do the translation directly on both clients and double check if each translation fits the screen.

I've started a version for pt_PT to try to collect where each string is being used, give an idea of strings that *should* be aligned (a menu list item should be aligned with the next display's title), and a hint on the available space. those comments are fortunately in english, but are not 100% up to date specially since the last beta versions

There are currently 2047 strings for the client, translation is one thing but checking if the text fits the UI/boxes/screen is another thing. I don't know how many hours i've spend already.
There are strings that belong to Android and some to iOS. It takes hours to get an overview.

...and you need to unify the common names like route, prompts, commands, pickup, coupons and many more. And cross-check if references to other menu items are identical with their own translations. And...

Maybe pick up my two wiki pages and make them generic for all countries? (they are two pages because the wiki was already complaining about the page size)

Hi Localizers,

I wanted to thank you for the amazing response to be a part of our translation team!
It's a very exciting time in term of our localization effort and I believe you can sense the different :)

I wanted to let you know that we have a complete team for the french language therefore we can't approve additional translators for french at this time.

Thank again.
