There are currently 2047 strings for the client, translation is one thing but checking if the text fits the UI/boxes/screen is another thing. I don't know how many hours i've spend already.
There are strings that belong to Android and some to iOS. It takes hours to get an overview.

Is it possible to indicate how many man hours it would take to translate to a new language. Assuming the translator is fluent in both languages.

I'd personally say most probably a whole full time week, as one should ideally do the translation directly on both clients and double check if each translation fits the screen.

I've started a version for pt_PT to try to collect where each string is being used, give an idea of strings that *should* be aligned (a menu list item should be aligned with the next display's title), and a hint on the available space. those comments are fortunately in english, but are not 100% up to date specially since the last beta versions

Maybe pick up my two wiki pages and make them generic for all countries? (they are two pages because the wiki was already complaining about the page size)

check the list of language moderators. Pick the ones that don't look like waze staff, but community people. Send them a PM on transifex, or here on the forum if the names match. Those collaborators are there to help you and can approve requests and set people to translator or reviewer. Bothering Waze or posting on this thread may not reach the intended persons. Of course for requests of additional languages you'll need to ask the waze guys, as we as community can't do that.

I just joined the spanish localizers team... I know my language is supported now, but I want to help to improve the wikki, the app and many places that need to be translated yet.

Best,

Not te try to force anything on you, but maybe you should consider working on Spanish (Latin America) instead of "Spanish" because that one is meant for people living in Spain. As such, the language which theoretically is meant for you is " spanish (latin america)"... The wiki doesn't have any distinction but the client and website do.

Thanks and best,

I should mention that it's best to start at your country forum since there might already be some discussion regarding the translation. You can find CR in the Latin America section.
