Would like to be able to have a "road closed" selection

Post by huskermedic
In the map editor would like to be able to have a "road closed" selection in the "road type" drop down. This would show the rd closed on the map but save all the road info. We have a major rd in our area closing for 180 days. It is a primary street so it has a lot of info saved for it and I would hate to delete it then have to put it all back in when it reopens.

As well it would be nice to have a road construction drop down. So I could select the rd then mark under construction so users will see that all the time and can decide if they want to go around. We have a lot of construction here that lasts for a year or two and it would be nice to be able to mark that.

I would still.want to send a PM to the appropriate AMs, CMs and Champs, but it seems to make sense to have a place where these types of things are concisely stated in the subject line and editors would be charged with checking before they undo changes. Of course, if everyone contacted the person who made the prior edits before undoing them, that would be ideal. I dont think that is happening though.
Connecticut and
both document these closures in the Wiki. They are also locked to prevent the from being accidentally put back.

I think is a really good and simple idea to put as an option like this! +1

Unless someone beats me to it I was going to do it how the directions say but I just figured I would put in the request to see if waze would consider adding a more simple way to do it. That is all. Any time you have to change the info that is correct it is a pain. A simple select the rd, select road closed in drop down and that road is closed until someone put's it back. It would mark the road closed on the map.

A road under construction wold be nice too. We had a road that was under construction for over two years. It would have been nice to be able to mark that section under construction so when wazers were routed it would pop up that your route goes through construction. Maybe allow a little note to editors. I would have said rd shut down to one lane for widening.

People could see that on the map and then decide if they wanted to take that rd or go around.

You can also put a short rail road if you disconnect it so that someone else put it back by mistake.
Just sayin...

Unfortunately, It would not stop someone to put it back, thinking that was done by mistake perhaps. I know that the road closure feature is being implemented in the Waze and it's a working progress...but would it worth to put a short rail road segment to prevent someone attaching the road back by mistake?
Thanks.

Ohad hinted that they could be adding road closures to the editor soon...
