Any way to turn off asking if I'm going Home/Work?!?!

Post by
Let me start by saying I love Waze, I choose it over Apple maps/Google maps every single time.

I had a question, every time I get in my car it either asks me if I'm going Home, or to Work, it's very annoying especially because if I don't hit no it times out and automatically puts me into navigation. This is very frustrating, is there any way to turn this off? I mean, I go to work and home every day I don't need navigation to these areas. I am guessing this might be tied to the option to auto learn frequent trips in the settings? If so I didn't want to turn this off as it seems like a useful feature, but I'd like the "are you going home/work" messages/time outs to stop.

I'm not sure that will work.
It will not. The locations are stored at the server and removing the favorites doesn't remove the prompting. Only the setting in the app will stop it. (Or contacting Waze directly to have them remove the locations from your (hidden) profile.)

I see no Settings / advanced / remember routes in the app on my iPhone. What am I missing?
This is so frustrating: every time I start the app, Waze prompts to navigate me home -- even if I'm sitting in my driveway at home! And it I don't catch it and answer "no," in time, Waze starts talking. This makes me HATE an otherwise great app!

The description is misleading - Waze doesn't learn your routes at all. What it learns is your frequent destinations. In other words, in learns that:
  • When you leave home in the morning, you normally go to work.
  • When you leave work, you normally go home.
  • When you leave that dodgy taco stand, you normally go to the nearest public toilets
  • etc
Once Waze knows where you're going, it just routes there as normal, taking account of your normal settings and current traffic conditions.

The only extent to which Waze learns routes is that it analyses everyone's driving data to get a better idea of the speeds of all the individual segments and junction traversals at different times of the day.

This is controlled by Settings / advanced / remember routes to frequent destinations.
If you switch it off it will not prompt you, but also not remember other frequent destinations.

Unfortunately, there is nothing "we" can do directly. We are just normal Wazers like you, but you can check if this has been suggested before at http://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223- ... our-phone- and vote for it if so. If not, you can add it as a suggestion.

It's just, what good is it to remember all the frequent destinations if you have the feature switched off ? In this case you will likely just navigate to a saved favorite which is already retained in the Favorites list and also likely the recent history list if used frequently.

As opposed to OP I really like this feature but it lately does NOT work for me :) I am pretty conistent in my work week schedules, generally speaking I leave home for work M-F 8:30 and leave the office around 18:00. Should be quite simple to predict and it used to work like a charm for quite a time. Not any more, a month or two ago this feature stopped or started to behave weirdly. It almost looks like that servers have lost the track of actual time of the day. Waze never asks me in the morning about going to work anymore. On the other hand to my great surprise the question "are you going to Work" popped up another day after leaving a restaurant at 23:30. No, Waze, I was NOT planning a night at my office after having nice dinner with my GF  Lately it almost never gets these suggestions right any more.

This is not dependant of the app version, current version has worked fine before, this is obviously server-side.
