That's why the rule is to have them as not allowed, it's preferable to give a sub-optimal route than to direct the user to do illegal turns.davidmrohde wrote:NYC would be a great place to test time-restricted turns. I've seen a few errors reported from users directed to make illegal turns. That's a "last tiem user-experience" waiting to happen.

you can set what ever you want in the alt name boxes
as long as waze app is not set to read and use it
it's as usefull as blowing against the wind ...
you'd better promote user voice and make wazer vote to request (in number) what they want the app to be
PS i wonder to know how that kind of discussionis related to Localization...

To enhance it's search engine, Waze dev team ask each country administrator to defin how people are looking for addresses and how those are set.
Now they are compiling all that so different way of doing so...

The search-function isn't only bad in Poland...
It's bad in Germany too.
Austria is much better.
The problem in Germany seems to be, that waze uses bing for results. (I don't know why, but I think Austria uses waze-search only...
I've tried several searches in Germany and Austria. And the search results in Austria were much much more better than the same ones in Germany.

Maybe wait for waze to start supporting such features before entering nonsense into WME

Okey, but adding things like this to the waze DB is a very bad idea.berestovskyy wrote:You might missed the "we need [...] to discuss and agree the syntax with Waze" in OP.petervdveen wrote:Maybe wait for waze to start supporting such features before entering nonsense into WME
Ofcourse it would be nice if there was a possibility to add some data but not like this.
About the features not working in Poland.
The U-turns function should work.
The Housenumbers should work.
The gas stations function can be enabled when there is enough data inserted.
The state function is being worked on, but for a lot of european countries that's not necessary.
EDIT:
And if you want to contact Waze about this, contact your champs or comunity manager.
They can forward it.

You cannot set U-turns?davipt wrote:Don't work at all in Portugal.petervdveen wrote:About the features not working in Poland.

You don't see the U-turn icon?
Of course. The bing database is used. What do you suspect. Not working in Portugal. Search doesn't even use the internal street names, much less the house numbers.petervdveen wrote:The Housenumbers should work.
As stated lots of times before. This is just for data gathering till the moment the Waze DB will be used as primary data source.
Correct. The state is gonna be yet another feature that will be designed for a set of countries and have no meaning for the rest of the world. What is a state in most countries? Usually the country has administrative regions and sub-regions and sub-sub-regions, whatever they are called locally, but in the end are they even relevant? Poland has no states, has 16 Voivodeships, like Germany has 16 Länder, Portugal has 18 distritos, all of each sub-divided into municipalities or similar, and those sub-sub-divided into smaller things. All of them are irrelevant for Waze, all of them have different names, and where one draws the line, at one division, or 4 like Portugal? Maybe one day there will be the country of Europe and the states of Poland, Portugal and Germany.petervdveen wrote:The state function is being worked on, but for a lot of european countries that's not necessary.
We have 12 provinces in the netherlands, but for navigating I don't see why I would need them.

Don't agree to that 100%
Maybe for some countries it will work.
But I've spoken with shira recently and she said it can be set on or off per country

Of course.
Everyone is confused.
Nobody knows anything, even the waze employees I sometimes have the idea they have no clue about what's happening...
This of course has to change radically, but I don not see it happening.

Maybe it's a good idea to search for free available petrol station databases.
Also you can send an email to all petrol station brand, if they have geo coded data freely available.
For housenumbers you can do the same.
You can contact the governement. Probably they have this information.
But first contact anyone of waze, so you're sure you can ask for the correct information
