Det är bara det att jag inte kan föreställa mig att Waze, uppköpt eller wallstreetat, skulle kunnat stå emot trycket från exempelvis amerikanska underrättelseorgan eller andra som är intresserade av insamlade data. Slutresultatet hade blivit detsamma i vilket fall som helst. Det är bara det att med Google som ägare vet vi vad som gäller. Annars hade vi kunnat nära ett falskt hopp, och sedan bli bittert besvikna.

Personligen är jag synnerligen nöjd med utgången av den här affären. Att Waze var till försäljning har länge varit uppenbart, så en eller annan köpare hade slagit till - förr eller senare. Och då är i mina ögon Google det minst dåliga alternativet.

Google har den fördelen att företaget har ett etos som passar mig mycket bättre än exempelvis Facebook, som såvitt jag kan bedöma bara är ute efter snabba stålar. Google förefaller tro på en betydligt mera långsiktig existens.

En annan sak är dock att Google har ett track record av att köpa upp mycket och sedan osentimentalt begrava de inköpta projekt som inte visat sig helt lyckade.

Hmm... visst det är bättre med Google än med ansiktsbok eller äppelskrutt. Men är det verkligen bra för oss?

Basically, as Noam mentioned - nothing really changes in our workflow and in our work together.

Waze maps and Googles maps stay separated and it is not allowed to use google maps data to edit Waze maps.
However - there is going to be a significant focus on the enhancement of the map editor and new tools will be available to us - yes, that includes google's aerials and street view !

Enligt nya rykten så är det Google som verkar köpa Waze för 1.3 miljarder dollar.

Det ska bli spännande att se vart detta slutar.
