Nokia 5800 - Edit map icon missing

I am unable to see Edit map icon in my Nokia 5800. Initially it was available and then it went missing. Yesterday in uninstalled and reinstalled Waze. I could see the icon after that but again it was missing in the evening when driving home. Couldn't see it since then.

I use my phone in landscape mode when in car. I thought there is some problem when phone switches it's display mode and Waze is in use.

That is because you are still close to a mapped road. You can always access the bulldozer through the menu, but the shortcut has gone to, as Gerben told already, prevent duplicated content.

It won't come back with points, mine is gone too and I have more than enough points.

It has been disabled in several basemapped countries to prevent the duplication of roads. It will automatically become available again when you are on a road that is not mapped. That is also why you see it when you have no good GPS fix yet, and dissappears when the fis is good.

If it is a small stretch, it is easier to add it in Cartouche directly.

Reinstalled again today on my phone. Could see the Edit map icon when inside the house. Once i got the first lock to GPS the icon is gone and can never see it again.

I am in India.

I can still create a map from the Report menu. There is a small stretch before my office which is not mapped. Waze doesn't show the Edit map icon when i am driving in this stretch.

What country are you in? I've read something that makes me think the bulldozer "pave a new road" is disabled when there is already an existing map. If so it may cone back once when you have established your waze cred by earning some points.
