"Two one-way road"-intersections

Post by IvarKa
When a road that is separated into two one way roads crosses another road...what is the best practice when creating intersections? A "H" or a "X"?

Code: Select all

____\ /______
    / \

or

Code: Select all

____|_|______

I created Xs but the client then wanted me to turn right in every intersection...maybe the angle is too "steep".

A side-comment on the "two one-way road" situation: I would ensure that the "two one-way road" really is such, too. I've had to re-do several in my areas which were really a single two-way road with a separating line, not a roadway separated by a median space like a freeway.

Can I ask how it handles the name of the road you are turning into when you use the H method? Can you provide an example of an H junction I can look at. We have very few intersections where this comes up, but when it does I'd like to follow best practice.

I don't have an example handy, but let me try to address the naming question.

When the East to West street has the same name, then the segment between the two North/South roadways can simply have the same name as the East/West street.

When the two sides of the East/West street have _different_ names, then leave the segment between the North/South roadways UN-NAMED. When dealing with un-named segments, Waze will give the name of the next named segment you will be routed to. That way the short segment between the two North/South roadways will appear to have different names depending on which way it is traveled.
