A new global Localization project-Event Traffic Center

Post by
Hi Localizers !

I'm very happy to share some good news with you!
We are starting a new and exciting project 'Event Traffic Center', a global Localization project that will enable future road closures and real time traffic updates during major events in your countries.
We are starting out with the 'Tour de France' http://events.waze.com/ but we plan, with your help of course, to implement this project worldwide!

You can suggest events that you think will create massive road closures and fill in data about the road closures itself by filing out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1L07vzO ... E/viewform

Together with country localization experts and country managers we will choose 5-7 major events worldwide to present on Waze website http://events.waze.com/

So.... what major event do you know about and would like to share ? :)

Orit

For closures of significant length, disconnecting via the editor is the recommended method.

Montreal got some issues,

8 segments of roads are close to traffic for the pedestrians from 8 mai to mid-September (for the summer)
for now editors got to swap streets to pedestian boardwalk the time going, but many Automated reports hits by the roads history.

this is a link to the news that report it "in french"

an other link for the news "in english"

thanks
That's considered a long-term closure and should be disconnected in the map - using the "Pedestrian Boardwalk" type will not prevent routing.

Yes, see How to handle road closures in the Waze wiki.

Time restrictions aren't visible on the map. By using this system, you get color coding & Road Closed icons (and larger events get event pages & push notifications, etc).

Already being discussed/worked on over in the PA section of the forum: viewtopic.php?f=215&t=153372

Starting with 28.6.2013 until 30.8.2013, on each Friday at approx. 21:00-22:xx, there will be an evening's inline skates drive through various parts of Slovak capitol - Bratislava. This year it is already the 10th anniversary of the event. The routes will use regular busy roads, with support of city management and police and etc. - hopefully also with the help of Waze? ;-)

There are a couple of known predefined routes, the exact one, which will be used, gets known each week some 2-3 days in advance. We have already some available (and are preparing more) lists of known segment IDs to be reused.

Reason: Shifted the even startup times back to 21:00.

Luckily the Support could successfully enter closure details for one (our third attempt) of the recurring events I've mentioned some ten posts ago http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... 92#p486492 and the timing of these closures was pretty exact.

Support asked for having the data at least one and half day in advance. Because of Friday being an Israeli weekend day, it meant for us two and a half day, at least.
