@Lonewolf47 - sounds like the map in your area is pretty crummy too. If you're not getting an alternative route for routes of more than 5 miles than the map isn't right. You may want to come and join this discussions.

it doesn't work when the map is in 3D mode, UNLESS you select an intersection.
It will work in 2D map mode.

Of course you could try the latest beta 2.0.2.7 in case it has been fixed.
