Ah, yes. My mistake. Thanks again.

Routing is wrong

Postby Chris_CA » Fri Jul 12, 2013 2:44 am

Going west on Stetson Hills to south on Austin Bluffs. SHoukd be a simple left but...
Always seems to route me (and others), north on Austin Bluffs then u-turn at Templeton Gap to go south. Get a report at least once a week (both auto report and user report).
I have pulled the intersection apart and redid it. Same thing happens.
It has routed correctly a few times into east but ends up changing a week later.

I'll going to post the screen shot of the UR for posterity. Maybe waze will adjust the routing algorithm at some point to address this issue.

[Deleting this as I thought about it more...]

Livemap doesn't route like this, so it's possibly traffic-related.

This could be the typical right+u-turn is faster than waiting for the left.... Until someone takes the route a few times, or several people follow the route suggested, Waze will continue to think it's faster. It's all about the math. :)

Aren't there any complaints that Waze will never say "turn left" here?

Not an issue since the left turn here is allowed and the livemap shows that the router is sending people that way instead ;)

That said, if the left turn lane was un-named, it should give a "stay to the left at Rangewood Dr" direction at the start of the left turn lane which may be enough without a follow-on "turn" instruction. Oh, and that left turn lane should be typed as Primary as well.

I noticed that too, but didn't bother to post about it since it can't be restricted unless u-turns aren't allowed.

I just found a UR posted today for a very similar issue.

Screenshot attached shows a right turn through a roundabout for a "u-turn" then straight across the intersection. This may be traffic-related because depending on the time of day, the left-hand turn may be a long-ish wait.

What is the issue with roundabouts that have non-consecutive segment IDs and "may lead to incorrect routing". You have one here ... but I don't know what the significance could be.
... and the "v" is for Volvo.

I doubt it here, unless routing server has changed. That roundabout is not new and has never been an issue ever before.
