Multiple city names for same city...

Post by yurtesen
Hello,

In Finland most cities have multiple names in Finnish and Swedish. How do you edit street information in maps in this case?

Thanks,

Hi,

as recommended by other users, what we would like to have (in the future) is a system where you first choose the language (i.e. this is the name in English / French / German / Etc) and then enter the text string.
However, since right now we are now focusing on other sides of the cartouche, I would recommend to focus on having the 'main' name in the local language. Currently, waze searches only through this name (not using the 'English name' field yet), so each local community should make sure that this the easiest way for local wazers to find their destination.

thanks

Hi,

You can add many "alias" names to a road, in the "edit panel"-> "+ add alias".

Yes, that seems to work for street names, but what about city names?

I think it would make more sense to have a selection box for each text entered where the person can select the language the text is in. Otherwise different names would be all mixed, for example a person using waze in Swedish can prioritize the Swedish names of the streets and cities when viewing if the database knew this information about the streets... I guess this could be a feature request? is there a specific feature request form to fill in? (couldnt find any specific information about feature requests?)
