A new global Localization project-Event Traffic Center

Post by orit_y
Hi Localizers !

I'm very happy to share some good news with you!
We are starting a new and exciting project 'Event Traffic Center', a global Localization project that will enable future road closures and real time traffic updates during major events in your countries.
We are starting out with the 'Tour de France' http://events.waze.com/ but we plan, with your help of course, to implement this project worldwide!

You can suggest events that you think will create massive road closures and fill in data about the road closures itself by filing out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1L07vzO ... E/viewform

Together with country localization experts and country managers we will choose 5-7 major events worldwide to present on Waze website http://events.waze.com/

So.... what major event do you know about and would like to share ? :)

I suspected the culprit was an Israeli weekend :-|

At the second attempt, I had to deliver our segmens until Tuesday to surely get them locked for a Friday evening.

I just have entered a two-day event. I had one problem: I could not specify which closures were for which day.

Just in case this is read by te people that have to put the event in the database: For the Hellendoorn Rally, all 16:00-00:00 closures are for the 20th, all 00:00-23:59 closures are for the 21st.

Not working for Latvia.

We are having "General Latvian song/singing celebration" in Riga, Latvia.
Only at 7. July there will be closed Elisabetes str. untill Brivibas blvrd. when brass band parade will happen.

We often have different town celebrations, cycling or running events, as well as car rallies through towns.

I just submitted the road closures for the Santa Claus Parade in Montréal on 11/23.
http://www.destinationcentreville.com/e ... aus-parade
Had to submit in two separate requests since I had 30 road closures.

Tell me this: I copy-pasted all the road segments... it almost would've been faster for me to just time-restrict them myself in the editor, no? What's the difference?

This could have been so useful when the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship! Traffic was horrendous and Waze didn't know what was closed and what as open. :(

In Paris, every summer they create "Paris Plage"meaning "Paris beach".
They close many major roads close to the "Seine" and only pedestrian can walk on it.

Every week, Paris circle major road is closed for work renovation.
Many many wazers use it and what a pity when waze tells us to go on circle when in reality it is closed.
I hope it will be possible soon to input schedule.

You could consider Tour of Utah. The problem is that it starts next Tuesday, the 6th of August. 586 miles of road closures over 6 consecutive days. The teams represent 7 countries from 4 continents. Plus the first stage is in my back yard!

I sent an event a few days ago but I did not get answers. Is there a specific number of kilometers or in terms of time for the events to be validated?
You are welcome to offer any event that you think can cause major road closers.
Waze localization experts and Waze team will review it, relevant events will be published.
pikifoo wrote:If not, there are several events to be in Switzerland with Slow Down, which are car-free days. Usable only with non-motorized vehicles or on foot. This usually lasts for one day and about 30 km
Please fill out the form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1L07vzO ... E/viewform for these events and we'll review it.

Best,

Therefore, I consider they are not interested to assist in the road closure or its not consider. A. Major event to them.
