Level 2: Longview, TX - Loop 281

Post by karlcr9911
Link to locked segments: http://goo.gl/zweuFu

This section of Loop 281 in Longview, TX now has center medians and the road needs to be split in two one-way segments. I have updated other portions of the Loop that were not locked.

I am a level 1 editor but I have almost 2,000 edits in less than two weeks on the Waze map editor and I am not new to map editing. I have over 7,000 edits in Google maps and over 6,000 reviews on the Google map maker site.

Thank you for your help in getting this corrected.

To what area are you referring? The only area I could not correct when editing was the segment at Loop 281 & Bill Owens Parkway and this was due to it being locked.

Thank you for the response.

Okay no problem - it just doesn't give proper directions because it thinks it's a single street and because of the medians, you have to make u-turns in certain places or use a different entrance or exit from a business because of the center medians.

The rest of the Loop is split into two segments and is that way in multiple other cities with the same type of road structure.

I look forward to your response.

Following-up on this request to see when I would be able to finish these edits. I believe the wiki instructions support splitting the segments based on the 2 bolded directions below:

A road should be split if:
GPS tracks show a clearly definable gap (blank area) between the color-by-azimuth arrows at the 100m zoom level.
U-Turns are required to properly make turns that are blocked by a median.
It is an Interstate Highway (USA) or other Limited Access Highway using the "Freeway" road type.

This would also create consistency amongst the eastern portion of the Loop here as well.

This request is going to require further discussion. In the mean time, please go back and fix all of the turns that you have turned to the off position, so that drivers may be able to drive without being told to turn off the main highway.
