There's an extension you can install to do this. Unlikely Waze will build it into the base product. (The old editor exclusively used floating panels for data entry. I preferred it as well.)

Pretty sure they could too. Matter of priorities.

REQUEST: Hide/Re-size Side Menu Panel

Postby Fredo-p » Fri Sep 27, 2013 5:39 am

I did a quick scan but didn't see it, so I as to see if it's possible to allow the side panel located on the left to become hidden or resized? Maybe maybe allow it to become a floating window?

When I am editing on my laptop, my screen isn't as big as my desktop and I prefer to have as much space as I can to edit maps. The bar/panel on the left tends to feel larger than it should be and, personally, takes up to much space when editing large/long roads.

A feature that I would love to see is having a small bar appear at the top after selecting a node, road, landmark, etc, with a few drop down menus if an editor chose to hide the side panel, giving more space to the map itself.

I have included a modified screenshot of what I am trying to describe.

Thanks for the info Alan. I'll have to check out the add-ons/extensions forum and look around.

As I thought about it, I realized that I could have just used Google Maps as the example. I like how they have that small arrow that allows you to hide the panel. I'm sure that the Waze Dev's can whip up some simple code to allow this, granted I no absolutely nothing about web editing/coding so I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Ehh....
