URL in landmark description

Post by Ghogg
Hi all.

Is there anything preventing me from putting a URL in the description of a landmark? I think it might be a good way of letting people know where to go to find more information about the services offered.

There are 2 options:

1. Cut and paste the URL for the City of Ottawa webpage for the specific facility:

http://ottawa.ca/en/residents/parks-and ... mill-creek

2. Using bit.ly to shorten it:

http://bit.ly/1cEyLDn

Is either option recommended or allowed?

Thanks,
Graham

The description is useful for other editors to reference the reason for the landmark (sometimes it's not obvious).

I don't know about any intended future use of it in the client.

I think it's better to *NOT* shorten it. It's nice to be able to see the direct link.

Does the description even show up in the Waze client?

And if it does, does the Waze client make a URL into a clickable link that launches a web browser?

I haven’t tested it, but unless the answers to both question is yes, which I doubt, there is no point in
putting URLs into landmark descriptions.

I checked and there seems to be no mention of the description in the app on my Z10. If the other platforms are similar, what's the point of the description?
