frf79 provides another example of this routing in this thread.

So I experienced one of these firsthand recently which I raised regarding other issues in this thread.
Also Tonestertm notes one in this post.

Perhaps the routing server has developed sentience and is "just messin' with us".

Could they be doing what I've jokingly suggested in the past and doing some randomizing/round-robin algorithm to simply spread traffic around relatively similar routes?

Here is another:

So I've been testing these in the new livemap when I come across them. I usually run through the various times to see when waze will route like this. What I'm finding is that if I try the route enough times, I usually get the live map to take the U route. However, its not consistent for any particular time. For example, currently if run this route it will show the U route about a third of the time for 14:00, but the rest of the time it just shows the left.

Why do I get different routes when I ask for the same route at the same time "earlier today?" If I just keep clicking find routes it switches back forth seeming at random.

Its been a little while since anyone complained about this issue. So I thought I'd just note that it has not gone away.

Not sure. They might have been rerouted while travelling south on Vicksburg. Waze might be just going around the block to perform a U-turn from Inwood. I suspect you're reading too much into the data provided to discern that the user starts out on the westside of a business on Vickburg. Waze doesn't discern which side of the street you are on and give a turn instruction to start the route. I find the initial turn icon on the UR routes to frequently be misleading.

There are some soft turns in the area that you might want to eliminate just to make sure they aren't contributing to any problem.

Ok maybe someone could enlighten me about this....
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-96.85 ... TTTTTTTFTT

Looks like the user starts out on the westside of a business on vicksburg street and wants to eventually end up on Inwood Road South.

Rather than going north on Vicksburg and west onto Lupo. Waze guides him south on Vicksburg, west on Burgess then north on memphis just to end up turning west onto Lupo just one block further.

What am I missing?
