Perhaps it wasn't your intention, but what I got from that statement is "what good are these useless low-ranked editors? All they can do is ask questions and then not be able to fix anything!"

Which, as a low-ranked editor, is rather offensive :|

That was exactly my intention. If you ask a question, you're misrepresenting yourself as being able to potentially fix the problem. The low ranked editors are forbidden to edit certain areas and should also be forbidden to be involved in conversations that they can't hope to solve.

In the case here, the lower ranked editors have their own assigned areas where they have full permissions, and have ignored warnings to leave the URs alone that they can't solve that are outside of their area.

Wow! Elle-emme, rest assured that not everyone feels that way. To me, if an editor's questions or comments are helping to clarify or resolve an issue, then their rank doesn't matter. For that matter, anyone whose comments aren't constructive shouldn't be editing, and in that case their rank shouldn't matter either.

Asking questions, such as in the forums, is one thing, but I think Jason's saying that if the UR is on a freeway or other roadway and it's a complaint about the ramp naming, which is locked at 5, a rank 1 editor doesn't need to be asking for clarification in the UR necessarily, because they have no way to fix it. Given the experience with a lot (not all) new editors, they will close the UR as NI without making the change and then this update opportunity may be lost.

A very small percentage of new editors may come to the forum to post the permalink asking for an update because of the UR. That's great, but it is rare.

How do we handle users with driven area permissions that allow them to start conversations in URs but have no ability to edit anything on major roads in the area because their level is too low, and therefore no hope of being able to solve anything?

Any help on this? anybody?

Time restrictions on turns seems to have improved (not perfectly) the problem. Seems to me that time restrictions on segments are kind of useless?

Best.

Calopez78 wrote:Hi,

The restrictions I set on the INTL server didn't work at all. Those are all about a reversible street. Were set on past Nov 3rd, so should be already up. Actually the road (which was one way) is already presented as double way. (so routing was a mess today  )

I set it only by restricting segments. I didn't use any turn restriction because supposed the segments would be enough. Is that the missing part?

If anyone mind taking a look, a small part of the reversible street is this:

Much appreciatted

Yes, something should be done. Some editors keep closing reports with questions as not identified before someone even answers. And those editors do not reply to private messages :(

And can recorded drives and routes lines in UR's be made double longer (not including start and final point of course). Currently they are often not long enough to determine whats was the problem.

Don't know if it's possible, but some sort of restriction on closing a UR that has a conversation you're not involved in may be useful.

As it stands now: an error is reported. Editor A initiates a conversation for more information. Editor B comes along X period of time later, [doesn't read the conversation, can't figure out what's wrong,] marks it as not identified, and that's it unless the original reporter takes the time to report it again.

With the restriction enacted, Editor B can't close the report until Y period of time later unless certain conditions are met (they're AM/CM/staff, the report has been open for more than Z days, etc). Even if Editor B adds something to the conversation, there would still be a period of time before they can close it.

Just a rough idea that came to mind after having more than a couple URs closed out as not identified within a few hours of starting a conversation by some overly-enthusiastic and rambunctious editors
