Street addresses weird in Fairfax VA

Post by mysticcobra
Some of the addresses in the shopping center appear to be attached to the locked exit "ramp"/turn lane here: https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-77.32 ... s=61898325

While navigating from I66 via Rt 50 East, waze tells you to go all the way around the block to get onto this ramp if navigating to an address here. I think the addresses (10965 and 10967) should be attached on Fairfax Blvd east of this turn lane to avoid this problem.

Am I correct?

Although there is not really a fix in Google Mapmaker where the building is in fact closer to the at-grade connector than it is to any of the other streets. Sometimes you do need to map the parking lot roads just so a segment you would drive on to get to the building is the closest segment to the Google pin.

The segment you highlighted has no name, so it cannot have Waze "house numbers" attached to it. But if the location pin for an address in Google Maps is closer to the at-grade connector segment than it is to any of the other streets, Waze will route users to the connector. This needs to be fixed in Google Mapmaker (if and when it becomes available again). See http://www.waze.com/wiki/FAQ, item 27.
