Landmark color and icon

Postby ALIfanov » Mon Feb 28, 2011 9:16 am

Greetings everyone!

I don't know, if it's client or server problem, but i'd like to offer a feature.

Is it possible to draw landmarks with different color and/or to draw an icon of appropriate type when writing a title is not possible.

I cannot visually separate a supermarket and it's parking lot :)

In many countries individual businesses (like supermarkets) and business parking lots (like the supermarket's lot) are not mapped. This is so you don't run into the "one giant bluish blob" problem where all the landmarks run together.

If you guys over in Russia want to map supermarkets, why not just map the store & the lot as one landmark? For example, in the US, schools are mapped as one single landmark covering the building(s), the surrounding athletic fields, and any attached parking lots.

Exactly. Recall there are only three landmarks (plus gas) - water, greenies and everything else as grey. So everything else becomes less relevant to divide in small pieces. You want one landmark with a good name, for search, so a big one with the mall name and parking lot shall be enough.

Yes it's possible, but it's not implemented.
