2 close speed cameras; 2nd one barely appears on Waze

Post by
I was driving along the A505 (UK) towards Baldock from Cambridge, and there are two speed cameras in quick succession. After I had passed the first, a notice about the second one appeared on screen for about 100 metres, and then the message a fair distance (300m?) before I had actually reached it. This has happened repeatedly.

I am using Release 3.7.7.0 of the Waze app.

Hi,

This is an issue I get in Nottingham. It's as if someone has planted speed cam's everywhere!

I get a warning, but no verbal any more, and the throbber at the first cam. Then the second cam will come up, not throbber. Then we move to near the third, this replaces the second, again no throbber. This is replaced but the fourth and very soon after the fifth. Then the sixth cam replaces that after a 10/15 second delay.
All that in less than 2 miles!

Des. . . ;)

Hi, I've moved this to the UK forum. Normally we'd ask for a permalink to the map to find these but if you let us have just a little more location information one of us should be able to get them for you, eg how far from Baldock/Cambridge?

I know these cameras too well :(
The cameras are along the stretch going past Ashwell train station. I think the cameras are located correctly, but being so close Waze doesn't really warn you of both. I'll post a Permalink when I get back to my machine.

I can't see an issue with their position on the map.
Is Waze just not able to warn of two cameras that close together (about 600M), perhaps Waze attempts to warn about the second one while the message for the first is on screen? so closes it when the first one should have closed rather than the second.

Okay, that sentence doesn't really make that much sense:
Is Waze doing the following:
1) Approaching the first camera, displays warning up to the camera.
2) Once past the first rather than continuing to show the first camera message for a while after now switches to the second camera warning.
3) At the point where the first message would disappear (a little after the first camera) it actually kills the message for the second camera?

I shall be driving to Baldock at the weekend so I will divert from my usual route at give it a go.

Okay, I'll see if I can replicate the OP's reported issue this weekend.

God, that sounds horrendous!
I thought you only get verbal warnings if you're above the set speed. I get verbals all the time as Cambridgeshire put most of their cameras just inside speed limit changes.
