why no left turn at intersection

I have resolved things like this by rebuilding each junction node (disconnect each segment and create a new junction node (don't drag the old junction back in). After that I never got the u-turn route again...

Ok maybe someone could enlighten me about this....
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-96.85 ... TTTTTTTFTT

Looks like the user starts out on the westside of a business on vicksburg street and wants to eventually end up on Inwood Road South.

Rather than going north on Vicksburg and west onto Lupo. Waze guides him south on Vicksburg, west on Burgess then north on memphis just to end up turning west onto Lupo just one block further.

What am I missing?

Agree that some adjustment to the algorithm is needed. We've been getting the same complaints about being directed the long way around, frequently to avoid a left turn.

Problem is, sometimes Waze is right, but sometimes the difference would be so minor that it's not worth the headache of doing all the extra turns, etc. Glad to hear they're contemplating some threshold, like a 30-second difference, before routing people people in some odd way.

Thanks for mentioning my complaint as well.

Since this issue is causing so many user reports, is there some kind of preferred response to those complaints?

Observation and question from a noob....

[Assuming for this discussion that Bluebonnet/Coursey run north and south and that Airline runs east and west]

With the restriction on the U turn in place, it doesn't seem that Waze knows that you can proceed north on Bluebonnet and through the intersection to turn left onto Airline. If you are proceeding north on Bluebonnet, the only turn that is permitted at the intersection is a right onto Airline. There is no way to proceed up to the intersection with Airline. Therefore, Waze will take you east on Airline until it finds a junction to make a U turn so that you can proceed west on Airline to take you back to your destination.

So, why not simply change the arrow that restricts the U turn to green and allow drivers to proceed north on Bluebonnet? Or change the intersection to a bowtie and restrict the U turn going south on Coursey at the appropriate juncture?

I think this intersection is a work of art. I wonder if something like this would work better for the Bluebonnet/Airline intersection. https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-118.5 ... TTTFTTTTFT

Thank you. The map in the link you provided has different turns than the image in the OP. The map you provided makes sense.

Thanks very much for the link to the info re bowties.

Ah, yes. My mistake. Thanks again.

What is the issue with roundabouts that have non-consecutive segment IDs and "may lead to incorrect routing". You have one here ... but I don't know what the significance could be.
... and the "v" is for Volvo.
