I agree with more points for useful edits and less points for less useful edits.

The question becomes, how does Waze determine a useful and less-useful edit? A simple turn restriction can be considered a huge edit in some places and minor in others. A new road can be considered a huge edit where it links two towns but minor if it's a pointless turning lane. They won't have humans looking at each edit.

I agree, on the face of it, it seems like a 'simple fix', but I like that it requires that editors actually drive to get those points. I don't really care about point farming myself, I just want an accurate map, (honestly I wish I could disable the candies, it cuts over my Pandora when I'm driving,) but if others are going to be point farmers, the best thing they can do is simply drive the roads and give Waze more data to work with.

So I neither like the candies and the noise they make, nor do I farm for points myself anyway, but I'm still against this change because of the behavior it encourages in point farmers.

Please consider reverting this decision and simply fixing the bug.

The only way you can reward people for activities without encouraging those to 'farm' said activities even when they don't apply is to find some way of punishing people for when they do 'bad' edits.

Otherwise there is essentially no consequence to farming. The only reason NOT to farm is ethics or a lack of desire for points or I suppose in some, the fear of getting 'caught' being a bad editor and banned completely. This is why things like turn restrictions gets done so often since nobody can 'catch' the editor that did it. =/

Subtracting 10x the point value when the edit is later undone by an editor that ranks higher than you could work. That's just a random idea though, the concept in general would require more thought. I still think some kind of 'history' and the ability for other editors to 'undo' the edits of those before them (rather than just submit another edit that reverts the change) would be beneficial, at which point having your edit 'undone' would be the perfect criteria for point penalties.

Heck there's been times when I hit the save button a bit too quickly and wish I could undo my own edits. =/

This has anything to do with the editing points are not updated in the dashboard?
there are a lot of days since the editing points were not updated in the dashboard for some (or all) users.
If yes, when we could aspect that editing points will be up to date? thanks

Yes, I know I wont lose them :) my question was if the previous announce has anything to do with the delayed editing points in the dashboard. Also there are almost 2 weeks since the editing points were stopped being updated in the dashboard and it's kind of an annoying thing.

Even you editing points? Because my "all" points are normal for me too now in the dashboard but the editing points in the dashboard didn't add up yet.

This is happening: http://status.waze.com/2013/11/19/intl- ... nts-delay/

the problem is that since that date we don't have any news about the issue.

Just receive update about the issue on status page:

Hi Wazers,

Points for map updates in the dashboard are currently not up-to-date.

Please note that this is a display issue only and points will be lost.

We're working on fixing this issue as soon as possible.

Thanks,

The Infrastructure Team

I think there's a typo on the phrase "and points will be lost" . there's a missing NO there :)

There must be something more seriously because this issue is 2 weeks old and no fix yet.

I also think that, only a part from my editing points were restored.
