The points (and the shields/swords/crowns/editor moods) are really just hooks to draw people in - and, perhaps, a way of measuring how much work you've done on the maps. They're not actually
worth anything.
Nevertheless there are always a few people who go to extreme lengths simply to accumulate points by any means possible. They rarely last long and, even if they don't get banned for cheating, they disappear again because they're not getting the true satisfaction out of doing a good job.
