I am not clear what would be changed on the Permalink page. Do you mean on the Permalink redirect page?
I mean the Permalink page.

If for some reason the page Waze Map Editor moves to a new location (page name changes) or the Waze Map Editor page is getting to long and you want to move the information to a seperate page or you want users to get to the Map Editor Interface and Controls page.
the only page you have to change is the [url=https://www.waze.com
/wiki/index.php?title=Permalink&redirect=no]Permalink[/url] page.

kentsmith9 wrote:OH. You are proposing we create a specific page on Permalink with ALL the content of the Permalink information. That way Permalink is no longer a sub section on a page, but its own page enabling the search to find it directly. Got it.
Yep, that is/was suggestion A.

I suppose you know how templates work but did you know you can do the following:
Including Template:NameOfTemplate in a page is done by {{NameOfTemplate}}
Including ARegularWikiPage in an other page is done by {{:ARegularWikiPage}}

This means that you can have a specific page with the explanation of a Permalink on its own AND include this explanation in a permalink section on the Waze Map Editor page ;)

If you want to learn more about the possibilities of templates, I invite you to look at some of the Benelux Roads pages
kentsmith9 wrote:I will need to reread your prior post later tonight with this new information and see if that helps my understanding of the rest of your proposal to change the template. ;)
With the new information I learned from you, it feels like my proposal is overkill in contrast with the triple Permalink solution :) Maybe wait until there is more news from waze on the #redirect [[Page#section]].

kentsmith9 wrote:The one thing I see missing from that above idea is when you want to direct into a part of a page to have context. A stand alone page for just one portion of a page may not work in all cases. Permalink is certainly one that that can stand alone very easily when someone searches from the Wiki. All our other links can go direct from within a Wiki page.
True

That is news to me and very cool indeed. I can see definite uses for that. :)
Maybe I can learn you an other cool trick:
Wikimarkup between <includeonly>will only appear when included in an other page</includeonly>
Wikimarkup between <noinclude>will only appear on the page itself</noinclude>
(By wikimarkup I mean the sourcecode of the text, incluing: links, images, tables, ...)
If you have any question about what can be done and what not with wikimarkup, don't hesitate to ask!
