Android- Motorola Cliq 2.1 Crash

Post by tdavis75
Hello,

I've been using the latest version of Waze without any problems. About a week ago I had the honors of getting into an early release test for Android 2.1 w/ Motoblur on my Motorola Cliq. After that upgrade on my phone I found that I had to reinstall Waze. For the most part everything has been working great. Except for one thing. I put the app in the background so I check check my email/text or even run another program. When I go back to Waze from the icon in the notification bar, I get the Waze load screen as if it's loading for the first time. Then it comes up with the window where it wants to send an error log, which I have done since this started happening. At some point while it's in the background it is crashing and the logo stays up in the notification bar as if it's still running. But I know it's not running because I'll have a route programmed into it and it will not report a turn in the background when this happens.

I saw that you there is a beta release available. I was going to try and install 2.0.2.6 and see if it runs any better.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

** Update: I'm still getting the crash described above after installing the beta version. :( **

I have also been having similar issues.
I have Moto Droid 2.2 and just installed WAZE 2.0.2.9 ( after reading an article in the IEEE Computer Society Magazine).
After I start WAZE, and switch to another API or the Home screen and back to WAZE, the Droid will crash/lockup. The only way to restart the Droid is to remove the battery. This has happened several times today.

Best,
Sonny

I would assume to the device. I didn't think you got the option to install to the memory card until Android 2.2.

Thanks,
Tom

I solved my problem. I decided to abandon the Motorola Cliq and go to the Nexus S. No more crashes! :)

On a serious note though I know the problem appears to be isolate with only the Motorola Cliq after they did their 2.1 update. I think it has something to do with how it handles GPS in the background. The exact same thing was happening when running Trapster. After having several other issues with the phone and no hope of Motorola addressing them, I decided to move on to a more "pure" Android experience.

Do you have it installed to a memory card or on to the phone's memory?

I've posted it here:

I suggest you also post here http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6248
to try and make sure it gets attention.

There have been other switching back and forth between apps, and I thought they had all been fixed. Sorry that's not the case.
