For example, at this supermarket petrol station, I've set the street to the nearby A road rather than the side road it is actually on ("A3100 - Clay Ln" rather than "Bowers Farm Dr").

And for this motorway service station, I've set it to the motorway name and direction.

Thoughts, better ideas?
In the past I have always googled the petrol station and put in their full official postal address inc postcode (if necessary cross referencing with royal mail postcode finder). Only failed to find that info on a handful of occasions. Obviously now we can set the entry point navigation should be easier.

Going back to parking lots, If you take a large mall like meadowhell (Sheffield) or cribbs causeway (Bristol) they have multiple car parks each with their own access. A place has only one 'entry' point so multiple car park places and a separate one for the mall (plus points for any shops???) would make more sense.

I think places will definitely be on the discussion agenda for the UK meetup.

Now I am back from holiday I am on the case with this, but we need your help!

Please review the current Landmarks page and the new Generic (i.e. USA) Places page and post any thoughts on the here.

Over the next few weeks I will put together a draft Wiki page and changes to guidance will be discussed (and hopefully finalised) at the UK Wazer Conference on 28th June.

Until specific guidance for the UK implementation of places is issued users are encouraged to read the Generic 'Paces' pages
Can someone correct?
.. or are we all being put through our paces

Progress on this is being hampered by the fact the live map is now more than two weeks old (Last update 27th May according to status.waze.com) so none of the test places I added to the map near me have arrived yet :?

Are places showing up in search for anyone?

On the testing I have done some far I can find things using FourSquare and Google search engines but Waze seems lacking.

e.g. in Lincoln if I search for 'Sainsbury's' I get the following:

Waze

Google
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/14/qu3uqamy.jpg

Four square

(Note if waze doesn't find a sensible result it seems to stealthily run to google. Tap the bottom bar to see where the results come from.

Surely existing places converted from landmarks should show up in search?

But yes it would be nice if the map would update so that all the new point and area places I added for testing were on the map.

.... However on testing both point and area places edited on 9th June Waze still cannot find them.

So if you can't see a point place on the live map or client map AND you cannot search for it, is it really there?

Feeding this back to Waze ....

I've been adding some more places this afternoon (all within 2 miles of my house) for testing and there are a number of potential missing or conflicting place categories:

Missing:
Community Centre
Newsagents

Conflicting:
Pet store and Veterinary Services (these are quite different and shouldn't be together)

Post any more you're not happy with here and we can discuss with Waze at the UK meet in 2 weeks.
