Regarding 3): it shouldn't be a problem for the merger process. The client should snap you to roads, but merger uses the actual GPS data rather than where the client thought you were, and should therefore be able to tell where you are based on your actual path.

Not exactly. Railroad segments used as editor notes should be deleted. Railroad segments should be added for actual railroads.

Depends on your definition of "soon". No, it's not gonna be this month, but I wouldn't stretch it as far as "Waze soon" either. I would expect it within a few months, which is certainly soon enough to delete railroad-notes you might find, especially in areas that might not be as routinely edited.

Like I said, use as notes is not the reason for "delay". A big change to the client map display is upcoming, but when it happens, it's going to happen all at once.

Railroads are already displayed in the Live Map, as are Runway/Taxiways.

There is no reason to assume the Notes layer won't also be hideable.

I agree URs are much better than railroads for this task.

We forwarded to HQ who are taking it into consideration.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Now could you do it on the default theme? :D

Thanks! Would you mind making a mockup with default? I don't have a lot of computer time this week.

I did: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11873&p=815801#p815801

I borrowed and modified Dave's code to my liking – of course anyone is free to do whatever they like.

On the default scheme, the railroads are largely the same as Dave's, except I like to have the labels on them; my runways are much thicker and I kept the yellow color just for fun (there aren't that many runways out there and they don't usually conflict with roads). I used the default scheme's code in Randy Mac (my custom theme) as well.

On the night scheme, the railroads are still largely the same, albeit with labels, and much darker to match with the scheme in general. I made them grey where most roads are blue, to allow easy differentiation between roads and railroads. Runways are thick like in the default mod but grey for nighttime.

I also added light toothpaste-green city polygons to the default scheme.

We use URs posted from the Livemap to add notes to the editor, which works pretty well.
Not ideal long term, but will do until Waze provide a dedicated notes interface.

The sooner Waze make railroads appear in the client (and behave properly), the sooner we can clean up the map of all the hacks we've had to introduce before now.
