Here is my first idea:

Road Closures Form (Google Docs):
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/17MEaR8 ... E/viewform

The drawback to this form is that using the time option kills the ability to use 24 hr format. I could just change it to a text block and enter in the help block, "Time must be entered in the 24 hour format".

And here is one that can be made for each state, or by region.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

If by region, the RC would make a copy of the doc, rename it, and alert the states they are responsible for to begin using this doc.

Yes. I would just have to share/give permission to someone who can then be responsible for giving the access.

Wait, the Form version would have the spreadsheet access handed out. The second is a form that is open to all editors who are given access. The "limited access" spreadsheet data would just have the info copied/paste onto the real closures doc.

After some searching, I've managed to insert a code so that times can be placed, from the form, into the spreadsheet in 24 hr format.

Also, to ensure accuracy and security of the form, I can add a Champ/RC/CM as a collaborator to the form. They can then make a copy, make final edits, and publish that form as the official form. This way its a champs/etc and a trusted person who knows how to deal with the forms.

If one form is to large of a doc to have all the US closures go through, then it could also be broken down into regions. An official post could be place in the US forum describing the closure notification process. Then, each region could post a link to their respective form to be used.

This method could lower the workload of having to maintain one massive doc.

Well,
Orbit has created a country wide (NA) closures doc for editors to submit their closure reports/requests.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1oGINt4 ... w/viewform

Don't know if an official post will be made in the WME or USA section.

Orbitc has created an official thread in the US section on the Closures Doc (form). Road Closures Form for All Editors

With an official thread on this form, including instructions on how and when it would be used, I think we have enough information to update the page. But how and where to insert it? Would anything have to be changed to include the form info?

How is this for starters:
from this
Overview
There are four methods to control traffic flow:
  1. Mega events
  2. Temporary Road Closures
  3. Partial restrictions
  4. Disconnect road segments
  • Mega event - A major event that will typically have road closures or detours. It is usually a scheduled event with significant exposure and likely to impact an entire community. A major natural disaster can be added after it occurs if roads are going to be rerouted for many days.
  • Temporary road closures - Users in the client app can mark an unexpected road closure they see while driving. It is typically used for unexpected, short term closures of a few days. Currently this feature is only available in the client application and requires multiple users be at the location to enter the same road closure information on the map before it will be seen by other drivers. Once this feature is available in WME it will have more use.
  • Scheduled restrictions - A new feature recently added to WME. Used when turns or roadways are restricted for certain times of day, days of the week, vehicle types, etc. It has the ability to only restrict during a specific date range, so it can be used in place of mega events or temporary road closures if necessary.
  • Disconnect road segments - In general it is not recommended to disconnect road segments unless roads are permanently being disconnected. However, this method has been used for longer term construction projects while waiting for the scheduled restrictions feature.

  • Road Closures form - The road closures form is to be filled for closures related to construction, work closures and emergency closures. This form is to be used by all editors who do NOT have direct access to the Waze Road Closure system. US Champs and State Managers will review requests entered and will be submitted to Waze if approved.

Would a sub-page be necessary to further discuss the use of the closures form?
