The gas station feature is not activated in Jamaica because we do not have enough data to enable this feature yet. Jamaican community members can help us obtain this data by mapping the gas stations in Jamaica. Once we confirm that 75% of the gas stations in Jamaica are mapped we can activate the feature!

In addition to mapping the gas stations we need to know the total number of gas stations that are in Jamaica. When you have this information please let me know and I will update the Gas Station landmarks updates - per country report. Please use this document to track the amount of gas stations that you have mapped.

Dude we have tons of work!!!! I want to start Updating gas prices also, somehow I dont think the feature is fully functional for us as yet, so we need to lobby for it!!!!

Yeah, they haven't enabled that feature this side yet. I hear its not only Jamaica but for people on the 'World' server.
From what I've read, we have to tag a large number of the gas stations in the entire country and then we can make the request. Lemme know if you really want to undertake that project and then we can assign areas and work on it. No, you can't claim Kingston or St. Catherine! lol

@woodvale Thank you for the exact statistics. So that's about 134 more tags before we can get activated... If all the local Wazers chip in and send the map issue reports for unmapped stations I think we can get it in before the year is out. Any ideas on how to send like a mass message to the local Wazers? (Bearing in mind that I think very few actually input email address or contact info :-/)

As I appear to have no permissions to add a new topic, I'm adding a question here, sorry - it's your country, forum, etc., and I'm only a visitor. What was the source of your map? Did you get a base map import, or have you guys paved/mapped all the rounds yourselves (if so,respect!)

I'm curious as I'm going up to Frankfield and Spaldings areas next week, and the Live Map is not showing many roads in the area, so I guess I'm going to be doing a load of paving. Do you have any local rules/guidelines I should observe when mapping? I couldn't find anything in the wiki that was Jamaica-specific.

There are 82 gas stations mapped in Jamaica so far. I wonder how the total number of gas stations in Jamaica can be found? Presumably, they're licensed and inspected by the government, so it should be possible to get that number.

While having gas stations on the map is useful, it's rather more important for the roads to be there first, and there are so many roads that aren't. I think all the A-roads are mapped, but a lot of the B-roads aren't, and as for the side roads - in the towns, they're OK, but not in the country.

Although I'm back in the UK, I'm still adding roads wherever I can, based on where I drove while I was on holiday, primarily around Manchester and Clarendon. Next time I travel to Jamaica (possibly later this year), I want to be able to use Waze everywhere I drive, and find plenty of roads to drive along!

If any of the local editors sees I'm making a mess of something somewhere, please let me know!
