Twin Cities Exit issues

Post by DallasGrant
The ramp naming in the Twin Cities is is absolutely awful and thought that we need to create a forum to address not only the bad named ramps, but also the rules of naming the ramps. The worst part is most of these ramps are locked out to a level 5 or higher and were locked with invalid naming.

Here are just a few examples:

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=57869268
This is labeled as, "Exit: CR-1 E / Old Shakopee Rd / Riverview Rd" ... This looks like it should be correct; however, since it is not a numbed exit, the way it is labeled will sound redundant in the navigation saying something like, "In a quarter of a mile, exit at exit County Road 1 East ...." Instead, this should be labeled as "to CR-1 E / Old Shakopee Rd / Riverview Rd"

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=62331821
This is labeled as, "Exit 5 106th St" and wow does this sound dumb with no pauses in voice. It should be labeled as, "Exit 5: 106th St" ... I know this sounds so minor, but adding the colon here will add the proper pause in speech and look correct in the navigation

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=66663062
This actually isn't shown as a ramp, but it should be. Also the label, "Exit 88A: I-35W N / Minneapolis" should be changed to, "Exit 88A: I-35W / Minneapolis" since the sign on the road does not give the definition of North being in the title. It's not heavily important to change the label; however, Waze does not handle the label well and it really sounds weird the way it is ... take a drive where you will be navigated on this section and you will hear what I'm talking about.

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=25252914
This is labeled as, "Exit to Co Rd 32 / Cliff Rd" but there are a couple of issues with this label. The Co Rd will come out as "Ko Road" and sound stupid. This should be labeled as, "to CR-32 / Cliff Rd" instead.

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=24993120
This is almost labeled correct with, "to I- 94 / I- 694 W / Humboldt Ave" but there shouldn't be any spaces in the interstate part. This should be labeled, "to I-94 / I-694 W / Humboldt Ave" ... I actually see this issue littered across the metro in many different areas and some places it will say, "eye to 94 west" because of the spaces.

What I would like to do in this forum is to address all the poorly named ramps in the metro area and create a list that can be better addressed than a simple unlock request.

That all does look good ... I am creating a list of all the exits that need editing. I'm working on I-35W first then I will work on a list of other roads. Any Ramps I can fix myself, I will. When I get the first list created, I will reach out to the others to see of the help we can do.

I'm only focusing on the exits here or this list would be miles long. I can say most entrance ramps are incorrect and some have unneeded splits in the ramp.

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=76630353
Should be: Exit 1: CR-42 / Crystal Lake Rd

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 7,62482577
Both should be: Exit 2: Burnsville Pkwy

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 1,62488530
No need for split in road from the SB side and should be labeled: Exit 3A: State Hwy 13 N

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 4,62489693
No need for split on NB side and should be: Exit 3B: State Hwy 13 S / Shakopee
Also ramp from NB side is currently closed, but will reopen sometime next week

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=25239192
Should be: Exit 4A: Cliff Rd

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 0,25251755
Both Should be: Exit 4B: Black Dog Rd

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 2,62330548
Both should be: Exit 6: CR-1 / 98th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 3,57756423
Both Should be: Exit 7A: 94th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 2,57759886
Both should be: Exit 7B: 90th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 2,62394323
Both should be: Exit 8: 82nd St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 3,57760178
Both should be: Exit 10: CR-53 / 66th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=24990083
Should be: Exit 11: State Hwy 62 E & W / 58th St
Also, after completed, UR can be closed

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... 1,77020300
No need for split in ramp and should be: to State Hwy 62 W / 58th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=61438477
Ramp should placed a little bit back and not have such an angle. Should be labeled: Exit 11: State Hwy 62 E & W

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=61626681
Should be: to 60th St

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=62630466
Should be: to State Hwy 62 E & W

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=61438883
Should be: to State Hwy 62 W / Lyndale Ave

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=25003374
Should be: to State Hwy 62 E / CR-35 / Portland Ave

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=61491244
Incorrect angle of turn on map is correct otherwise

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=57600974
Should be unnamed to avoid double saying of same ramp name

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=61491243
Should be: to State Hwy 62 E

https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=25005224
Should not have such an angle in turn, otherwise ok

Ok this will be a good start ... I will add more later

BTW

I don't know if you want to just lower this section to a level 4 or what, but the way this is setup is confusing and should be corrected

the1who wrote:I'm currently up to Exit 4 and have noticed something that I am awaiting an answer on.

I started working on some of the exits. I worked from 5:30 - 20:00 yesterday so was beat by the time I got to my hotel for the night.

If it is a question about the ramp name, I can answer that because I was just driving that whole area last week ... although for that particular section, beyond the ramp I am not sure and I know it looks like it goes to a different named road at first then the road the exit is listed. I was really close though because I had a route where I drove the Burnsville Pkwy and the entrance and exit ramps for that road lol

I actually don't mind they are locked ... I actually think all freeways and ramps should be locked to a level 5 as long as it is labeled correctly ... but that is just me lol

I corrected some of the sections for the Cliff Rd exits that you lowered the levels ... found out the name of the street that was incorrectly named and corrected that then created the roads so it will show users what the signs show

Sorry I haven't looked at this issue in a while. I have been editing like crazy in Blue Earth County making sure all roads are labeled correctly and street numbers are correct. I don't see anything has been unlocked past cliff road. Has anything else happened here?

It's all good ... I haven't been paying attention at all because I have been on a roll closer to home and I think you will be impressed when I show you the results.

I'm about half done with my current project I am working on (numbering every address in Blue Earth County) ... I already finished with functional class and road naming.

... Too bad we can't get paid doing this because I'd have a lot more time to finish everything lol (dang real job getting in the way)

Hello,

I recently was able to unlock a good chunk of the Twin Cities and I've been going through, trying to help with some of the URs there. Man is that place a mess!

Anyway, something's up with the I-494 / I-35 interchange in Mendota Heights. I am not really experienced with interchanges so I have left it alone, but it's generated a pile of URs, all within the last month. Matt, it looks like you might have come through there on Oct 23rd so I am wondering if something was changed inadvertently?
