Disabled, it treats the Bluetooth as media in that it will not play through the car speakers unless the radio is set to Bluetooth. It would be nice if there was an option to send it regardless of the radio setting. I don't want to listen to music from the phone so that means I have to use the speaker for audio if I want to listen to the radio (or a CD).

Let me just note here that I have not recently tested this and something may have changed. I'll see about testing it later on today when I leave work.
Can you explain this just a bit better? What behavior should I expect if I set it to enable vs. disable?

Thanks. (Galaxy S4 USA)

Bluetooth from Waze in my car works fine, but only when the radio is set to Bluetooth. Note that this is also true for Google Maps (or at least it was the last time I used it, which was when it was still Google Navigation). Phone calls via Bluetooth works without the radio being set to Bluetooth. I think that's the difference between whether or not the output is treated as media. If it's treated as media, it needs the car set to Bluetooth. Though I admit that I really haven't done much research into how Bluetooth works, so this is just what it appears from my perspective and may not be entirely accurate.

Enabled means the sound goes to the phone's speaker. Disabled means it goes to Bluetooth. However, on Android at least the last time I tested it, it went to Bluetooth as media. That meant the car radio had to be set to Bluetooth and the phone had to be paired to allow media for it to work. As I mentioned, I'll test it out when I leave work to see if it's the same now as it was back then. We've had a couple of updates since then that may have changed the behavior.

I just tested this and there seems to be a problem with it now. I could not get any Bluetooth audio at all in the current version. That includes being set to Bluetooth on the radio or not. I know it worked when set to Bluetooth in the past, so there seems to be some change that broke that.

Is there any chance this is getting fixed for Android?
Hi there!
My Renault Scenic MP3 bluetooth car stereo allows the Waze notifications only via "bluetooth external AUX". But in this way I can't listen the radio music

to use waze with BT in the car, you have to switch on the bluetooth channel in your car and your phone (of course). In my case I then hear my music from my phone through the carspeakers. I have to kill the music app on my phone. Only then and then alone waze speaks through my speakers. You cannot have it both ways... music ànd waze through the speakers, that's just not possible. It took me quite a while before I figured this out.

Galaxy S4 and Waze 3.7.3 user Tried looking up other forums and most found the app bluetooth auto connect to work. Unfortunatly the only way that I could get Waze to play through the cars speakers ( Chevy MyLink ) was to connect the source to media on the car, then switch back to XM.
I do not believe that it is the car, because my old thunderbolt worked for a while with Escort Live until they did an update.
Just spent a couple hours trying a hundred different settings without any luck. If anyone is able to figure this out please post the settings...
Ofcourse my goal is to play the radio and whenever I get a call or Waze update to mute the music and connect seemlessly.

For those looking at this for android, I think the long and the short of it is its not possible to code without major hacks, and doesn't work for many devices.

There is an app that forces music to play over the bluetooth connection (non a2dp) however it appears to be a massive hack, and would keep the channel the open so you wouldn't get the interruptions whilst listening to CD's/radio, you would however be fine listening to music and waze. (but in Mono not stereo). - At least thats what I understood from what I read.

at least that was what I found on my research, always happy to be proved wrong :)

I agree there should be an option to disable pausing the music.

However with regards to actually interrupting music playing via a CD or car radio, this is much harder, and as shown by the 3rd party apps that allow this and don't always work its not something thats easy to code reliably, so I don't think this will be added due to limitations on android, however I don't speak for waze, and this is just my personal opinion, if you wish to request such features, then raise a new request on user voice, or if you have access, request a new feature on the centre code for the beta tests.
