Okay, if this is only for alert reports that certainly cuts down on the variety of words needed as opposed to places updates.
Non-letter filtering is a good idea, though the - , and ' should maybe be allowed if possible, and of course numbers.... Accident reported ahead, comment "Road closed, use Exit-12"

Seriously, the last time I fixed a problem to an indoor gun range, the reporter seemed hesitant to even tell me exactly where the problem was so I could look at it. He was probably afraid I would make it so nobody could get there ;)
Change the place point for the range into an area and shape it like a 1911 ;)

Alan,

Do you know how this list will be used? Your title says a lot in that these are "potentially" offensive in a very liberal way. "Escort" can be used in a traffic sense. Nothing is wrong with"gun," as mentioned before.

If this was used in some kind of scoring system where points were assigned to each (like 1 point for gun, 100 points for motherfucker), and once the score got over 50 points or something like that the item was censored, then it would make sense to list a lot of "potentially" offensive terms. If it is is a ban list, then escort and gun do not belong on the list.

As I recall, there is a town called "Intercourse, NV" from watching a Johnny Carson (yes he was still alive and on TV when I was a lot younger) show. I saw someone mentioned "Gaylord" as a town name. In addition, the moral values are different between different segments of our society, different states, etc. For some reason I think that "whore house" might be a lot more acceptable in NV where institutional prostitution is legal.

If this is input to Waze and they are going to have to think of some algorithmic approach to censor items, then a couple more fields in this table would be useful, for instance.
  • Score (how offensive is it on some scale)
  • Inherently offensive (a yes/no field that would let you know if that word is, by itself, inherently offensive)
  • root offensive (the word in any combination within another word is always offensive). While I know some people's favorite word is "fuck" because it is has just so many meanings and uses, if you take that word as offensive then anything within it like fucker, motherfucker, etc. would be offensive. This is easy to do a search.)
Given an algorithmic consideration, I don't think you need to stick to just single word. This increases complexity though. For instance, the words "brains, out, your, blow" are not offensive, but "blow your brains out" probably is. I mention this in the context of a correlation or scoring algorithm in that all these words might have score 1, together they have score 4 in any order, but in this order they should have a score that is above the censor threshold.

Now that's a long list. Tbh if people still want to use them they might use it with special charaters. Just saying
