Transiflex help: searching modified strings

Post by AlanOfTheBerg
Hi, I'm very new to Transiflex. Translating EN to EN_US means most of our strings are 100% identical. I'd like to figure out for my reviewers if there is an easy way to find the strings which are modified from the base EN?

The base is still the same. We have an en_us now so that we can localize just like everyone else. It's quite a natural thing to do. We currently cannot update the interface at all because that breaks all translations.

Thanks. What I ended up doing is going through the list again and manually added a tag to all the ones which are different. Now they can search by that.

Had a quick look and there is an easy way to do a compare but not in transifex.

Download the .yaml file using the 'Download for use ?' button for the resource in both the source language and your own (en_GB in my case) and do a file compare of them in something like WinMerge:

Fully understood...

No idea how to do... but in case it can helps, there is a search bar where you can perform a search by "text:" (original) or "translation text" among other possibilities.. not sure if there can be a way to force a search were "text" equals / not equals "translation text"

Hopefully @bex_05 will have the answer...

UK English is similar, in that the majority of strings are identical to the base language. I imagine that other languages will have changed almost every string.

I'm not aware of a way to find modified strings. Something else I'd like is a 'diff' highlight for original vs. translated. We usually only need to change a word or spelling, and it can be hard to make out the difference.

Oh, and watch out for automatically translated strings. Transifex will use its 'Translation Memory' to translate strings it has seen before. These are tagged with 'TM' in a special field. I forget which tag means 'human'.

PS: if ORIGIN = TM, then it was put in from Translation Memory
if ORIGIN = LOTTE, then it was entered by a human (aka the Lightweight Online TranslaTion Editor)
