Location services ALWAYS ON with latest iOS update

iphone 5 ios8 - the location services icon is always on for waze. I exit waze by putting it to sleep every time, but the location services icon remains on regardless.

It would be great to get some battery life back.

Geofencing remaining active is a known issue, mentioned several times in the iOS official feedback thread. Other threads which repeat information already available may go ignored on purpose. This issue is #138 on

GPS "While Using" iOS Location Services

If you have calendar integration turned on that may keep the gps icon on and is called "Location Reporting." In that mode it uses pretty much no extra power as the gps really isn't on.

That's strange. How come I don't have a "location reporting" option? In Settings --> General --> I have Language, Unit, Events Radius & Prevent Auto-Lock only.

Yep, that's the version I'm looking at. On iOS 9.0.2.

I'd like to also echo that Waze 4.0.1.1 is killing my iPhone 6 battery. I set the Location Services for Waze to "Never" to avoid the battery drain, but now the app complains that Location Services is disabled every time it launches.

Need a fix.

After re-reading the referenced fixes, I realized that I needed to turn off "Location Services" within the Waze Settings, not iOS. This got rid of the warning, and appears to turn off the location usage while Waze is in sleep mode.

This 'feature' is annoying as hell. It seems to destroy my battery and having a location arrow on all the Time screams 'spying'. Give us the opportunity to turn off whatever 'feature' needs to have my 24/7 location please!

iOS and Waze - GPS always on

Hello, my Waze app on iPhone 6+ constantly holds GPS on. And there is no option for When in use, just Always and Never.
GPS draining my battery, but I do not want to uninstall app.
Can It be solved? thanks
