Ability to Download Route History from Waze.com

Post by a-white-car
Hey guys,

Is there a way to download the route history from waze.com?
I might need it to show my route and speed in court in the coming months.

Thanks!

Yes, better than going with just my word against his.

Thanks!
I was able to see my route using the old Cartouche map editor.
Though I didn't find a download button the the editor, I was able to download the XML data from Firebug's net panel. At least that's a start.

If you're interested in doing it yourself, the URL to the XML data is:

Code: Select all

https://www.waze.com/map_edit/show_file.php?id={RouteID}&type=gml
Please let me know if you know how to download better route history or how to parse through this one.

I put the editor in full screen on my 1920x1080 monitor, expanded the Archive div to 950px, and still no download option. This is what I get:

See full size (957x347)

Also, looking through the HTML, the only missing table headers were "New roads kilometers" and "Existing roads kilometers." Perhaps the download feature has been removed?

It's cool. The XML I've downloaded has good OpenGIS schema information. I'll try parsing though that first.
Hopefully I won't need to use this data at all. But even if I do, it will be in a few months. They might re-add the download button by then.

Thanks for all your help, Alan.

Nope, nothing other than the XML I've mentioned earlier in post.

Thankfully, I didn't need to. The cop didn't file the bogus ticket.
And I've gotten a V1000GS dashcam since then.

Try finding it in the Archive panel using the old Cartouche map editor.

There should be a button to download it in the Archive panel window. If the window is too small, you may need to issue some javascript to expand the panel.

Dang, I guess they removed the download ability. It's likely due to the transition to the new editor and the drives weren't being processed the same way.

You could try submitting a request on the quick help form on the Support page detailing the date/time of the route and asking if they could manually generate and send it to you.
